People are really good at pretending their religious text doesn't say what it says.
Indoctrination and fear. These are the two main methods by which religion survives, and they condition people to follow and not think too much. And violence, when the secular laws aren't there to overrule God.
It's become more and more clear to me that a significant number of Christians have never read their bible front to back. That is so bizarre to me. They will take Pastor Bumrush's word for "the gist". Even their description of Jesus is horribly innacurate.
When I as an atheist ironically educate them about their own bible, it becomes clear they don't actually care what it says. They only care about what they like to think it says.

Hate for women is deeply rooted in Christianity. Just look at HPV - virus that causes cancers of the cervix, vulva, vagina. Spread through sexual contact, the infection can be almost completely prevented with a series of three safe injections, and is recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for boys and girls eleven or twelve years old. Cervical cancer is deadly: it causes about four thousand deaths per year in the United States and almost two hundred thousand worldwide, most of which could be prevented by vaccination of preteens.
In the United States, both religious and right-wing political organizations strongly oppose attempts to make immunization mandatory. There is no reason not to make it as mandatory as vaccinations for measles and diphtheria.
AND yet christian organizations, including the Catholic Church oppose vaccinations because, to them, it's God's way to block promiscuity!!!
For instance Catholic bishop of Calgary, Fred Henry, publicly opposed endorsement of the vaccine by Catholic school boards in Canada—schools funded by the government—because it would “undermine the schools’ effort to teach children about abstinence and chastity in accord with the teachings of the Catholic Church.” Pressure from the Catholic Church has also halted the administration of anti-HPV vaccines in Trinidad and Tobago, with the church going so far as to question, in the face of all scientific fact, the safety of the vaccine.
There certainly is something that they can't fathom of a woman having sex. That's why you have religious men buying real estates around abortion clinics to camp there and stare at women that had sex. It's against the Bible, remember the words of that mega asshole Saint Paul: "From now on those who have wives should live as if they do not." or “It is good for a man not to have sexual relations with a woman.”
Xtians hate women is because they see women as viscous beings that betrayed humanity and want them lock up as slaves in the kitchen and never see the light of day. Again the words of that mega asshole Saint Paul "22 Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord. 23 For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. 24 Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything."
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

I really find atheist completely insincere about what the Bible actually says, they are deceivers to other atheist ( Christians realize their pathetic attempts), trying to hide truths from them through out right lies because they know most do not know what the Bible teaches. You might say, no you can say they are doing to their fellow atheist what they condemn Christians of doing, Indoctrination. Now wait in 1-2-3 comes the denials.

God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.

Seriously, I have to argue with my partner all the time about religion. She stands in the corner of Jesus. I personally have no good reason to believe a god exists at all much less sent himself as his own son to earth ...etc etc etc.
My point for this thread is to point out two quick biblical verses, and ask women ....why Christainity is something you would chose?
...
They do not generally choose it at all. Normally, they are indoctrinated as children, so they believe it. They did not look at all religions and make a selection, the way one might choose an article of clothing in a store.
Also, whether something is pleasant or not has nothing to do with whether it is true or not. To reject Christianity because one does not like it is irrational. It is committing an informal fallacy known as " wishful thinking." One should reject Christianity because there is no real evidence for it, as well as the fact that many forms of it are contradictory and incoherent, and because there is evidence against specific claims (e.g., the exodus out of Egypt, etc.)

Some people, both men and women, simply need God in their life. I need it too, without it I would be a smartass and a prick. It gives me this feeling that there's something above me, and its a simple method of staying sane in life. Fortunately modern Christianity has a light take on woman, but there's still much to be done. And the question should be - how can they be Muslim. If they can, then Christianity is really no brainer.

I'm pretty confident that there exist things that are both directly above me and more important or influential than me. No god needed.
And to answer your question, how's death for apostasy sound?

Well, your answer suggests that you think I'm advocating for religion here, which I'm not. I'm advocating for free will. And I'm not a fan of Catholic Church also, I'm a Christian, but without a need for middle man. I'm just trying to be good, and not to be too self centered. You don't need god to it? Good for you, man! I do, and I don't really think our lifes are that different, we just use different labels!

Exactly, Pyrrho! They are brought up as children to believe that Xtianity is the only way to avoid hell. Questioning anything that they are taught is doubt, and doubt can send them to hell. It's not a choice, it's brainwashing. And this brainwashing tells them that THEY are on the side of right, and everyone that disagrees with them is going to hell.
