the hammer of homosexuality

If homosexuality is the sin and the person is a homosexual, then this implies that the person should not only not want to be who they are but they should hate who they are.

I don't give any fucks about what you see as righteous behavior. There is nothing good about making a person feel guilt and shame about who they are when they have not hurt anyone.

Being homosexual and/or acting on homosexual desires is not morally wrong. It causes no harm and it is none of your fucking business. Who I have sex with doesn't concern you and your opinion of it is irrelevant. While you may reserve your right to have an opinion on the matter, the moment you try to tell me that I should hate my desire to have sex with women you are crossing lines you have no right to cross. And fuck you for that. When you say that I should feel true remorse if I have sex with a woman and ask your god for forgiveness....that is just fucking disgusting and cruel. People who have sex in any way that you consider to be a sin (without causing any harm to anyone), haven't done anything wrong.

Life is hard enough without assholes like you coming along and thinking you have a right to tell me that I should feel guilty for who I am. That I should repent desires that I have no control over. That I should deny who I am at every turn to appease your world view. No. Just no.

Honestly, sin seems nothing more than a way to wrap the economic reality of the time in morality, mixed with the usual ancient peoples' woo.

You're poor, but poverty is actually a good thing.
You're cold and hungry, but be thankful for what you have.
You're horny, but wanton breeding is bad (because it's wasteful).
Etc.

As shitty as your lives are now, you'll be rewarded with more than the Romans even could imagine if you stick with the program, and those that are responsible for your plight will be punished terribly.

It's just obvious that it served a dual purpose - explain why things suck to the masses (all the shit you hate is actually good! And everything you really want to do is bad! Whee!), and create a controllable population because, well, religion IS politics.

All of the typical theist hoopla regarding it is idiotic and laughable.

Yes, that seems to be the Republican way of thinking today, especially.

And it does seem to be the mentality the workplace has embraced as well.

Do not dwell on what you don't have, just be thankful that you have a roof over your head.

Do not dwell over the fact that you are living paycheck to paycheck, just be thankful that you have a job that pays you.

Our society is more fucked than I care to go into depth about, considering that I could rant about it for eternity or at least until something was changed for the better.

What especially irks me about that way of thinking is that those who state those retarded comments are the same ones who have a comfortable life about which they have nothing to worry.

It is always easy to sit comfortably in a position of power and claim to understand how someone else is feeling or coping in his life.

The 1%ers were smart enough to see the corollary. The more they thump their bibles, the more they know people, devout people, will willingly bend over and take it. Because Christianity is a faith based on being a willing loser. In delighting in being a slave, of being a serf to kings real and imagined.

It'd be hilarious if it didn't mean taking the rest of us down with them.

If we haven't been given free will, it gets even more retarded. God makes things have a purpose, then doesn't allow us to choose whether or not to use them for that purpose. Since we have no input, unless he's constantly surprised by what happens, he knew all along whether or not we'd use things for their purpose.

We're a puppet show that he's made self aware. Once the show is over he punishes some of the puppets for things they had no say in.

What a dick. And by the same argument, he's designed me to think he's a vile monster. He's made me write this, saying what a lunatic he is. And then he'll punish me for his decision. There's no point preaching to me either since I have no decisions to make; although people don't have the choice whether to preach or not either.

What a bizarre belief system.

Original sin? What if that was not a real 'thing?' Or rather that is not what Jesus/The bible taught?

Quote: I think that is pretty clear.  From what I have seen of the bible it clearly states that nothing we do on our own amounts to anything unless it involves this particular god.
So? Unless your idea of a human has to be self sufficient and all 'righteousness' is derived from 'morality' this is not a problem.

Quote:I have even been to bible studies and have heard this from the teachers.
As we are so often reminded in this forum there are 30K different expressions of Christianity, are you saying you in your study were in the "right one?"
Quote:It appears to me that they want to make good and sure that the only self esteem you have is being Christian.
The term your looking for is Humility.
If one humbles himself before God, then God will lift that person up. When He does, it will be much higher than one's own 'esteem' could ever do alone.
So again where is the hate there?
Quote:
Also so as not to go to far off topic,  the idea that all sexual sin is equal may be true in the bible but not to the christians of today.  The present is all we really have.
So, what am I chopped liver?
I believe your zinger about "Christians today" may have been true 20 years ago, and may still ring true in some of the more radically legalistic churches, but today, today with our new pope 2/3's of Christianity right off the bat has a homosexuality is a sin like any other attitude.

Doesn't have to be explicitly stated.
Ok so where did I hint at hate.. We've had probably a dozen different 'gay' debates since I've been a member here I invite you to go back and look at all of them and find something explicitly stated or not (show me where I was truly hinting at hate) So me something, or the comment can be dismissed as an unfounded ad hoc attack
