I hate the phrasing of this poll. You should have been here long enough now CL to know that for most of us, atheism is not a matter of 'believing god does not exist'. It's a matter of not believing.

Where do you stand on the existence of God?
|
If an anthropomorphic, aka "personal", god then my answer is I know that god doesn't exist like how I know fire burns. If impersonal/inhuman god then my answer is I don't know if that god exists or not.

My opinion:
The only version of "God" that makes the slightest bit of sense and has any reasonable chance of existing is a computer programmer or similar. Everything else is just nonsense, which I'd give a negligible probability to account for some weird cosmic coincidence. So as there's no ignostic option, I'll go with number 4, using the computer programmer definition. I'd instead be 2 for pretty much any other definition. Feel free to send me a private message.

Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

Teenaged X-Files obsession + Bermuda Triangle episode + Self-led school research project = Atheist.
BTW, what's with the asterisk on this option?
