We all deal with bad stuff in our own way. Some of it is destructive, some constructive. Clearly, he was covering his own ass by not destroying everything in sight.
Bottom line: She set him up for hurt when she cheated. He set her up for a non-physical bitch slapping by getting her hopes up about a vacation and then let her have it at the end, via a card. If he would have beat the shit out of her, the outrage would have been all over the place. Instead, he gave her her just desserts. She got what was coming to her. Instead of being violent (towards her or her stuff), he chose to creatively leave. Perhaps this will serve as a lesson to never do it to anyone else in the future. Outrageous things like this tend to leave quite an impression on a person and perhaps he gets to save the next guy in her life the shame of having to go through this. Perhaps she will now think twice before cheating on someone else.
And perhaps now, having been shamed publicly for thousands of people to see, she will go into a deep dark depression. He didn't need to post his revenge online to save his mental health.
They're both shit people and unjustified in their actions.

I'll have to agree with Thena on this. While negative traits are unattractive regardless of who has them, there are some that are particularly repulsive on men and some that are particularly repulsive on woman. Being petty is particularly repulsive on men. Being cold hearted is particularly repulsive on woman. Just my opinion. Paul Simon nailed the answer to this question. No need to blame anyone for not being who you wanted/needed them to be. Just go. No one owes you a damned thing. You are not entitled to their participation in your fantasy of how it's supposed to go. So yeah, just drop off the key, get on the bus and do what needs doing .. but with as little damage as possible.

It was immature, low rent, unnecessary and all of that good stuff, but isn't that what he was going for? He didn't do it to seem smart or attractive, he wanted it to be spiteful and if spiteful was what he was going for then he did a good job.
