Well it's nice to see that we've learned absolutely nothing from history. If people are concerned about the rise of right wing militant groups in the US, the last thing you should want is for the government to have gone in like Yahoos and shot a man to death. In the 90's, the last time these groups were very active, it was the result of deadly government raids that ended in the death of people. Rather then discourage them, it sets martyrs them and rallies more, stranger and more dangerous people to their ranks.
Tim McVey said that Ruby Ridge and Waco directly inspired his actions. Here we see the same thing repeating again. It wasn't until Oklamhoma city that we saw a massive withdrawal in the popularity and support of these groups. Now do we have to wait for another Oklahoma city? This just creates more wackos, not less and was the wrong thing to do. These guys were getting booed at public forums, people were against them, and they could easily have just been waited out, they weren't anywhere important, just a remote park in a remote part of Oregon. Instead the government goes in guns blazing and restarts a problem that we shouldn't have. You guys celebrating is short sited.

But it was the militant who pulled out a gun out on FBI agents and cops, according to several articles. What do you expect cops to do? I hate the FBI as much as the next person but come on they aren't just going to stand by and let cunts point weapons at them.

I expect them to wait them out, like reasonable people who learn from their mistakes. You think they are going to stay there forever? They went in knowing that it would likely end in violence and sure enough it did. Now we have a ready martyr to rally more of them, exactly what right wing groups want. It also pretty much ends any negotiation possible with the remaining people who are stilled holed up out there, reinforces their belief that the government is out to get them and makes further armed conflict more likely. Again, all this already happened in the 90s. So good job there. If I were you guys I wouldn't be celebrating giving these groups exactly what they wanted.

Exactly. Albeit with the caveat that they don't care to win my vote first.

They didn't "go in".
Quote:Weeks into an armed occupation of a federal wildlife refuge in Oregon, federal and state officers corralled the anti-government militia leaders during a traffic stop. Gunfire erupted during the confrontation, and the group's unofficial spokesman was shot and killed. In total, eight were taken into police custody and will face felony charges. Judy Woodruff reports.

They should have blockaded the refuge from the get-go. And they should do that now.

What do you mean "went in"? They stopped two cars and arrested six people including the leaders. One man pulled a gun and was shot. Bundy has since made a statement through his lawyer telling the rest of the occupiers to go home.

Lol. So "I didn't read anything about it, and I don't really know what happened at all, but I sure have an opinion about it!!"
You're voting for Trump, right?
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great
