As pointed out in parliament by the SNP last night, the government aren't actually revealing how much it will cost.

Quote:The Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament puts the overall cost over the 30 years at £205bn. Reuters, in an analysis last year that was disputed by the MoD, put the cost at £167bn.

Explain how. What scenario is there where we would have to threaten to use nukes? And in that same scenario, why would the money be better spent on nukes and not the rest of the under equipped military?

You say that there is a greater need now than in the time of the cold war, but nukes are no use against terrorists.

You're talking total bollocks. It just isn't true.

"What can be asserted without evidence can be dismissed without evidence."

There's no point debating with some one like you who just dismisses everything out of hand without providing any citation or evidence. It's all feels with you and Bella. All suggestions, no reasoning at all. You're just parroting what you have been conditioned to say despite the evidence.

Who said anything about terrorists?  You seen what's been happening in Russia, or the South China sea lately??  The need for a nuclear deterrent is higher now than, I would say, at any other time.

Right, so I'll believe the SNP, who has absolutely no vested interest in exaggerating that figure.

Not at all.

Oh, bless you.

I'm dismissing it out of hand because it IS bollocks.  We rely on the US for the detection of a nuclear attack, for some expertise and, without them, our CURRENT stockpile would be useless within months.  Which, quite brilliantly.....

Is another reason we need Trident.

The SNP quoted those figures amongst others asking how much it would really cost. They weren't the ones that came up with it. Shows that you aren't even reading the links and evidence posted to you.

Your opinions are worthless.

So on the one hand you're saying that the link I provided is bollocks (without providing any evidence of your own to refute it) and on the other hand agreeing that we need the US for expertise and services which is justification for renewing Trident.

Which is it in your feels based reality?

And evidence also required from you that the new Trident would be an independent deterrent and not a continuation of the same setup as before.

Because people like Sofaking and Bella buy into the propaganda, don't care about evidence and believe what they have been conditioned to.

Thank you.

I did read the report, and I read the Guardian on Sunday, with the report referenced.  You can go ahead and believe it, as is your wont, I don't really care.

We need a nuclear deterrent, the cost can be debated over 30 fucking years, fact is, we need it.
