What makes your faith true?
|
|
If sincerity was all it took (and not dissing the relgiousites we have here) I'd be a fucking Mormon.
But Jesus Fucking Christ, sincere or not, Joe Smith is just so FUCKING BAD at the making up a plausible religion game!!! Jesus people, get a fucking grip . . . The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.
What makes my faith true?
My faith in the Invisible Pink Unicorn is indisputable. She and I have a relationship, just us. And you can't prove otherwise... Anyway, my faith while religious was sustained by social reinforcement and circular reasoning. Once I no longer accepted the premise, the circle was broken. My old religion has people who believe that they've been chosen by God to serve as king-priests in heaven. It strikes me that pretty much every religion and denomination has people like this. How can that be? Sent from my SCH-R970 using Tapatalk RE: What makes your faith true?

God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.

Because those people tell dramatic and sincere stories of answered prayers and use it to "prove" that their religion is accurate and their gods are real, just like Christians do, but unlike Christians they're doomed to hell. (February 9, 2017 at 2:08 am)Godschild Wrote: Christians have flaws just like everyone else, the difference is we are forgiven Well GC, your post could be lump up that you seem to think that for being a Christian nothing matters apart from a few basic tenets centered on Jesus. That's a nice, concise, and inclusive thought, I suppose, but I don’t see how it can be true. If it were true, wouldn’t there just be one big unified group of Christians with only a few offshoots at most? Something does matter in addition to believing that Jesus is God, and it must matter a great deal because wars have been fought, people tortured, and families torn apart over disagreements within Christianity. As an atheist I'm fine with lumping all Christians together. But I shouldn't do that, according to many Christians themselves. Many of them exclude Mormons or Jehovah's Witness and do not consider them to be "real Christians," for example. Even you yourself admit there are fake Christians who are only there for getting rich, but who are you to say they are fake? I mean they also say you are fake Christian. (February 9, 2017 at 2:08 am)Godschild Wrote: Like I've said you need to read and study the Bible and you might not have to ask so many questions. Well again I don't see how reading the Bible looking for answers would bring me correct answers when even Christians get completely different answers from it. If the Bible was inspired by God and was meant to instruct humankind, then why can't Christians at least, if not the entire world, agree on it? Some denominations project live-and-let-live attitudes. Others, however, openly state that they are right and everyone else is wrong—and will pay a severe price on Judgment Day. We can get you into heaven, they say, but that other church is a one-way ticket to hell. There are Christians who support gay rights, Christians who strongly condemn homosexuality, and then there are Christians who have no interest in other people's sexuality. There are Christians who say Jesus wants them to amass extravagant wealth as quickly as possible, and others who say that Jesus wants them to give it all away. Some Christians fight in wars, and some are pacifists who won’t go near one. RE: What makes your faith true?

More like heavy metal.
Miss lead... Oh please yourselves!
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'

Sure it isn't a hallucination from all the drugs you've been doing? [quote pid='1496475' dateline='1485501788'] The Emperors of Japan have all died, Muhammad's revelations haven't come true and he is also dead, Krishna had a father and mother therefore created, therefore Krishna has no providence. Those who worship these deities may have faith in them, but those deities are shaky at best. My God was not created, has always been and will always be, His promises have always been true and as creator has providence over all things, so I can't be like them because my God is unlike theirs in every way that's positive. Do you at least entertain that possibility or do you think it's impossible? We all know these people don't hold their own standards of other religions and other "gods" to their own faith. My Faith? Because my holy book says so, It was written by the infallible FSM, I pray for the delusional members of other faiths daily.
"For the only way to eternal glory is a life lived in service of our Lord, FSM; Verily it is FSM who is the perfect being the name higher than all names, king of all kings and will bestow upon us all, one day, The great reclaiming" -The Prophet Boiardi-
