Dude, that is life...
You've been one of the lucky ones... I know, right now, it doesn't feel like that, but I thought you'd like to know.
Enjoy whatever time you still have with her!

So sorry, Brian.
All I can say is make the most of these last days; show her all the love you can. I hope she remains comfortable.
I, for one, will miss the competition in the NFL pick 'em league: she was sure as hell better at picking teams than you are.

I know it sucks Brian but it takes real courage on her part to say "I've had enough."
Stay strong.

My mom is taking a nap right now, but she had more energy today, and was even trying to thumb wrestle me to get a smile from me. She put a smile on my face. Funny thing our entire lives, just playful of course, everyone will side with her, just like you did just now. Even my X wife teased me always taking her side. My mom is so brave.

Oh Brian, I am so sorry. This is devastating news.
Please PM me if you need to talk. I have never lost a parent myself, but I will listen.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

Brian, we both know that we can't stand each other. That being said, I'm hoping that this transition can be as compassionate, peaceful and dignified as possible, for both you and your mother.
Best wishes.

Be sure to take care of yourself, Brian. Apart from talking with friends/family, definitely schedule some sessions with a counselor if you need to. We're all thinking of you and your mother.

Fuck, Brian, I'm so sorry.
Just, dammit.
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

Hey, just be with her and support her final wishes. If she is ready to go and does want to take a chance at the surgery don't push the issue. I wish you the best and enjoy what time you have left.
