Exactly.
So, out of character,.... imagine that some poor schmuck named Larry really trusts the two of us, respects us...and trusts these boards, this is a good place with good information. Now imagine you and I keep this up for years..and we pile on links and get others to agree with us, and so forth.
When Larry starts accepting this silly shit as truth, and that acceptence begins to impact his life.....it's at that point, if we were conmen, that we would have thoroughly victimized Larry. "Who could be so damned dumb"..you may ask...well, we've actually got a few Larrys on these boards, who have a habit of linking infowars garbage. Otherwise passably decent and intelligent people, lol.

I think it's possible for most people -- reasonable, intelligent people -- to be taken in by a con. Hell, I was taken in once; an Internet "friend" I'd known for a few years gave me a sob story about being guitarless, so I gave him one of mine -- shipped it to Spokane on my dime too -- only to find out after he received it and thanked me he was crying again about being guitarless, and finding out that others had also sent him gear.
Now, I've got a pretty decent thinker on me, but I also have emotions that factor into decisions as well, and I'm sure not unique about that. And that means that on occasion my decisions aren't entirely rational. The decision to give Damien a guitar certainly wasn't.
If anyone thinks of me as a "moron" for that, so be it. Works in my favor for people to underestimate me anyway.
