but Jesus would be right there fixing it !!
The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.

I wouldn't trust his track record. One of his 'patients' sounds like they'd be interested in filing a malpractice suit...

Religions were invented to impress and dupe illiterate, superstitious stone-age peasants. So in this modern, enlightened age of information, what's your excuse? Or are you saying with all your advantages, you were still tricked as easily as those early humans?

---

There is no better way to convey the least amount of information in the greatest amount of words than to try explaining your religious views.

If it's a metaphor for anything, I think it's more likely a metaphor for one of the following:
  • The goddess-worship that was displaced by the rise of the Yahwist cult and/or
  • An initiatory coming-of-age experience when one's childhood gives way to adult knowledge and aresponsibility.

1- Speaking of goddesses, a witch in a chatroom once said she was invoking the Egyptian goddess Sekhmet to come and get me; I put the kettle on but she never turned up (sniffle)
Hey guys don't you just hate getting stood up by goddesses?
Mind you, after seeing her pic (below) I wouldn't have known whether to tickle her chin or offer her a saucer of milk..Smile

2- yes I've had a soft spot for pagans after seeing them burn Nic Cage in a wicker man, he thoroughly deserved it for squashing that wasp on the pub bar.
And I remember the great scene in the original Wicker Man where Britt Ekland initiates a shy inexperienced young man into adulthood by shagging him silly, she can initiate me any time she likes..Smile

I can't top that.

Well - they conveniently forgot about the other two crucifixions that took place that day.

Hear about the time Muhammed's wife called him a pedophile?

Muhammed responded "Pedophile is a pretty big word for a 9 year old!"

What do you think about this one? I just made it.

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Nah mate, all the other religious leaders are in graves somewhere but Jesus is not, spot the difference?
PS- What exactly is it about JC that atheists don't seem to like? I kinda like him myself..Smile

To the snooty priests- "You're full of shit!" (Matt 23:27)

We know plenty of so-called "christians" are a disgrace and get Jesus a bad name, and so does he..Smile-

Wait a minute, by toppling the temple on top of the heathen Philistines who'd poked his eyes out, Samson was rightly giving them payback, so whose side are you on, his or theirs?..Smile
