Replacing Christianity with Islam

The question is really the King Asa problem.  When there are different religions there are conflicts.  So simply get rid of every religion except one and there will be peace.  It really doesn't matter which religion is the survivor as long as it is the sole survivor.  And everyone will have to follow the specific denomination of the surviving religion.

That's not exactly what Voltaire said:

Or, y'know, just remove religion from the equation. Level playing field for all and nobody being able to get away with bullshit because everyone else will be too skeptical to fall for that crap.

This question was raised in another thread so I figured I'd start a poll so there wouldn't be any assumptions. This question is for atheists only.  


If you could, would you replace all of Christianity with Islam right now? 

I did just that years ago in my personal life. I was raised Catholic. At 13 years of age I dumped the Catholics and called myself an atheist through high school. In my 20"s I initiated into a Sufi order. Just a passing phase, though. A couple of years later I was back to atheism as "The"-ology. The Sufi's I met are the Flower Children of the Islamic world. If I could replace all of Christianity and Islam with that Sufi version I would.

Perhaps a bit anti-intellectual but no suicide bombers or priests telling people in Africa not to wear condoms.

What we need is a "Nuke them both" option.

I don't have much of a problem with using cluster munitions, for instance, on crowds like this. I also recognize that having folks like me that are too close to the issue in charge of cluster munitions is a pretty bad idea.

So, am I trying to have it both ways?  Idunno, but executing gays really vexes me and if it was in my power to ruin the day of everybody who's watching with shrapnel and fire I wouldn't spend much time wringing my hands about it afterwards.

In the countries that are ruled by Islamic's Gays are executed and women are second class citizens where they can be jailed for being raped. I am not a fan of Christianity but i do see that one is plainly better and more tolerant than the other.

First of all, Christianity has had more than a millenia more than Islam to be dragged kicking in screaming into modernity. All improvements in Christianity are caused by outside, secular forces.

Second, can you imagine what Christianity, especially Catholicism would have been like in the Dark Ages if they had access to modern weapons of mass destruction?! Hell, they did enough damage with what they had.

Third, Islam has never had an Enlightenment like influence, as Christianity has.

So yeah, in the present, Islam sems more dangerous than Christianity. But historically speaking, not a lot of difference overall.

The rulebooks they base their beliefs on are the same. The mentality behind those beliefs is largely the same (indoctrination making them believe whatever their parents and community leaders have forced into their minds), making it unquestionably true. Only the interpretation of the books (or making stuff up out of their asses) really differs, but the ingredients for both are the same. So, as I said, indistinguishable from one another as far as the preparation of the recipe, but just poured into many different bowls.
