because it's members were not asked
Then they don't have to keep being members. This is how any organization with a board of directors works. The leaders make a decision, the members can follow that decision or leave. There were no external forces or organizations that made the scouts do this.
The Boy Scouts have been waning in numbers for years now, and they identified a way that they could both serve more families and children, as well as bolster their numbers. The only effect of this decision is that now girls can achieve the rank of Eagle Scout which is far more well-known and prestigious than the girl scout equivalent (which is called the Gold Award, but the fact that you've never heard of it might imply that it isn't exactly equivalent).
This is a purely positive change that literally only helps people. But leave it to Drich to find something wrong with that.

scout numbers has more to do with the leaderships change in morality allowing gay scout masters in the group.
Right or wrong, it was not accepted by the types of people who saw scouting as a right of passage or a transitional institution that would help see boys become young men.
If they want more number go back to what work for 150 years prior.

If people left the scouts because the leadership allowed gay scout masters, then good. Those sorts of bigoted fucks aren't the kinds of people I'd want teaching my children anything.

Ahh yes, the homophobic rightwing fucktards can't stand the idea of treating gay people right. Man, how fucked up is your religion when it's predicated on such hate? And how fucked up are you to be following it?
"Tradition" is just a word people use to make themselves feel better about being an asshole.

If Homophobes don't accept men simply because their gay then to hell with them .

Similarly, if sexists can't deal with the fact that they'll be learning alongside girls now, to hell with them as well.

Yeah...well, NOTHING (except for your "god") stays the same, Drich.
You know this.
Why not use this disappointing reality as an opportunity to spearhead a new, more "righteous" alternative such as The ASKouts of America or some shit like that?
Btw...if you like that name, it's yours. You can have it.
You're welcome!

I want to die with a thin mint in my mouth.
I swear, I think they put crack in those things. People would buy 5 boxes at a time! Had one fellow buy a whole case!
Personally, I think all the cookies taste as good or better than they ever did. Samoas and Tagalongs are my favs as well. But now you can get them for half the price at the grocery store. Kiebler makes most of them, they taste pretty dang similar.
Since I quit as a GS leader, I vow to just shove 5 bucks in the tip jar and skip the cookies. The kids keep 100% of your tips!
All these stories of girls who never got to camp are so sad. I took freaking kindergarten and 1st graders to camp. In the woods. With bugs and dirt and all of it. My girls had a blast. But then I let them pick activities. Thats supposed to be the point, to let the girls do things they want, not arts and crafts time. But I know it's common. My co leader, totally useless woman, fought everything I tried to do. She just wanted arts and crafts time for her own kid. Upper leadership was mostly overwhelmed and refused to help.
I think it's kinda hilarious that GS is going to be the gender bias one here. Lets not forget, though, that BS is at it's very heart a religious foundation. Christianity is built in. This is the one thing I liked about GS. They did not care about my religion or lack thereof.

I love it when we get to use conservative talking points on conservatives. Points out the hypocrisy of their position. "Yes I support the free market...except when it goes against MY DEEPLY HELD BELIEFS!!!"

Other than that it's basically a cookie cartel. I'm pretty sure I was dying from laughing so hard at that.

I adore the cookies but they have got hella expensive compared to when I was a kid and would use my own money to buy myself a few boxes. Inflation I know, I know.

What the problem is?
I asked if YOU were a girl scout. If YOU were told that you needed to do certain badges just because of your gender. If YOU had to watch the other gender have fun while you let someone paint your nails simply because as gender roles go the boys were made for that and you were made for grooming. Sleep overs? Yeah? Wow they are so lucky they got to have sleepovers. /sarcasm. Yes SOME troops like the lucky duck's in Aroura's troop got to do some cool stuff and some boy scouts had boring leaders but everyone knows the majority was not that way I had four different leaders and not one thought it necessary to teach us how to even build a fire or let us swim in anything other than a chlorinated pool.
We GET to sell cookies? Like it's an honor to sell those things? Cookie sales were the most stressful time of the year. You were pushed to sell them with the threat that you wouldn't get to do anything fun if you didn't sell a lot. But hey don't go door to door because of bad people yo. If you didn't have a parent that could rock the selling game at work you got to sell cookies in the freaking cold (because for some stupid reason they thought February was a great time to put little girls outside selling shit) in front of Walmart or Blockbuster (Auto Zone if your troop got lucky) Don't get me started on the merit badges. Let me say this again; I got actual badges for painting nails and learning to braid. Literally nothing I learned in girl scouts, mind you I was in the system from 5 to 17 with only one year break because my mom was deployed, would ever be helpful on transcripts. The only thing that was helpful for college was the volunteer work at the half way houses and soup kitchens.
