When I stated "second hand smoke isn't on anyone's list of concerns.", i'm being somewhat facetious and speaking of people here in this thread who are feigning concern about choking to death... When is the last time any of you thought about second hand smoke? 73 deaths a year out of 24 million is something that concerns you guys? really?

If humans are so badly designed, then why are we here and the apex of all living creatures on the planet?

I think I get it, but I understand why people here are focusing on the example provided by the OP, instead of going off on a tangent to the neighboring breathing system.

Why are we the apex of all living creatures?... Social+brains.
How did we get there?

Humans are the apex species in our niche, and those which we can can convert to suit us. Elsewhere, not so much.

Spend a week at the bottom of the ocean, or in one of the rainforests where spiders are the dominant species, then tell us about being apex.

By the way, comparing smoking to choking is a red herring, because illnesses related to smoking are not down to the way our bodies are buolt. Having to swallow and breathe through the same easily-blocked aperture, is.

OH IDK, smoking related illness seems to be a flaw that could have been handled by a magical designer capable of building us however it wanted.  We're talking about cancer, afterall.  We'll probably get around to fixing that fuckup too.

It's on the to-do list, it's just that the list is long and the fuckups are egregious.

Don't give Huggy the get-out clause of comparing how we should be 'designed' with how we are.

Hardly a get-out clause when humans have been fixing these flaws since time immemorial, still have a ways to go, no end of suggestions for improvement, and nary a single ounce of the divine ability.

That's the funny thing about insisting it's all designed by some silly ass god.  The purported designer inherits every single problem, great or small.  Pointing out another flaw x as though it were a competent defense of flaw y is ludicrous.  All he's doing is piling incompetence on top of incompetence. Demonstrating that his all powerful designer was incapable of handling small monday details like eating and choking..-and- immensely broad issues like cancer.

The question isn't even what god got wrong with his little design, but what he got right. It seems that he was operating on a principle of "just enough until it's not, barely, and indistinguishable from no design at all". Some design, some designer. As the result of inexorable natural processes, it's impressive..but as the product of a thinking and designing superintelligence the whole thing is an abject failure. It doesn't even rise to the level of competence in human engineering, and were miles and miles away from being superintelligent...even if we were we'd still be miles away from being as capable as this god is supposed to be.

I didn't realize you atheists struggled so much with eating... I mean infant children seem to have it down pat.

The rest of your post could more than likely be solved by eating proper foods.

Eating is easier for atheists, as they don't have to take their head out of their ass first.

Your god is one shitty designer.

A lot of diseases can be traced back to GMO's and hormones put in our food. Some lady was telling my wife where she buys her meat from has chicken breasts so big that one can feed 4 people...

You're lying again.

When was the last time you had to endure someone smoking inside an elevator? or in a regular supermarket?
Also, have you not kept up to date with the new gadgets, the e-cigs, that have been helping tons of people stop smoking and have no second-hand smoke related issues, as the "smoke" is only water vapor?

What about cars?... it seems there are some 35,000 deaths from car accidents every year in the US and who knows how many lives destroyed due to crippling ... and even more unknown, how many more due to the contribution of driving to an unhealthy lifestyle.

No one is the least concerned about those... NO ONE!!

But choking... yeah... Billions of $US are poured into choking prevention every year, while those other fields go penniless.
About the same amount that goes into weapons purchases and "defense".

But for healthcare?.... nah, brah, those losers can die!

I don't think you get it...
