So I consult it.

Yeah, my book is called 'It's a bad idea to do as a book tells you book'  I read it every day.

Nope; I bet your whole life is about following books; from the constitution of where you live, to the rules in this forum...etc.
Print them; and you got yourself a library !

Basing your morality on the holy books of antiquity makes no sense to me one bit. If I started a new religion and based it on Homer, or Oedipus I would be laughed at and called a cult. Maybe start on on the play Medea, that would not get violent.

Knowledge was biased; and only elites knew how to read; the slave market needed ignorant slaves; and the battlefields needed unaware teenage men.
We never seen the standard of living "advance" for the normal human until the Industrial Age.
It's too much to ask for you to back away from saying silly shit, isn't it, lol?  You'll double down and pile more on top.

It's quite weird that the Quran is still intact just like the day it was written. Also; all the religions of Abraham are still quite strong.
It's not weird in the slightest.  Magic book is a baby compared to the longevity of other popular cults.  Call me back in a few thousand years, if you're still perplexed by the mundane.

Quote:Well; they abandoned the Quran and believed in the Hadith instead; no wonder they lost.
Yeah, that must have been it.   If only they still believed in magic book.   Rolleyes

Atlas the Quran is not untouched over the many centuries. As was pointed out in the other thread about Hubble's discovery being in the Qur'an, the translations can change. Also in that same thread you mentioned getting taught Arabic from wahabi schools.

Which means they can teach whatever they want, then translate it into the Qur'an. I give you an example.

The example is the very thread about Hubble's discovery which you started. The verse you mentioned states literally, as in word for word, what they wanted it to, but only after Hubble's discovery. Before Hubble's discovery it was something different. But you'll never know the actual translation since they taught you "Arabic to English" the way they want to and after Hubble's discovery.

Now i know I can't prove and won't be bothered to go check the entire Qur'an for changing translations and human alterations over the history. But it seems most probable. It must be hard to swallow and you will probably deny it But, you've been brainwashed and still are being brainwashed by the wahabi people you always mention and dislike a lot. No matter how much gymnastics you do and try to somehow convince yourself the Qur'an is any different from hadith and man made literature, it won't be a fact.

All well and good as far as it goes, but I find your reasoning troubling.  Are we to understand that if you were to lose your faith, you would be a terrorist?  Similarly, suppose that - at some point -you, without losing faith in the Quran as a whole, you were to come to a different interpretation of the verses mentioned. Would you then be opposed to terrorism?  If your faith is the sole reason you reject terrorism, then it is my sincerest wish the you remain steadfast and unchanging in your religious views.

Personally, I reject terrorism because I been a victim of it and I've seen far too many innocents butchered for political gain.

Boru

Really good points!

Reading a book and following it are two different things. If you get an idea from a book that seems good to you and you use it, you're using your own judgment. If you commit to believing and acting on a book no matter what, you're abdicating your judgment.

Boru

If Islam called for terrorism or the hurting of innocents; I will lose all respect to its author, making me an enemy of the faith.
Believe it or not; I'm willing to go that far -and I think I already did with the Hadith books-.

When I saw that Islam in its Sunni and Shiite versions alike, is bringing down humans to a level lower than imaginable in terms of mercy and respect to other human beings, I lost any respect the sects. That started my current belief.

If I lost respect to the author due to unjustified commands, I will become an enemy of that author.
But until now; every verse made me respect him more and more. I'm grateful that the faith led me to criticize murder, stuff like tactical bombing and nuclear bombing.

Without the religion; I would've been a different person. I have a softer heart due to it; I like that.
I'm sorry for you being a victim of terrorism; Boru.

So you do what the Quran says, as long as you agree with it?

I'm glad to hear you would reject the books at that point, but it shows that your judgement is your own, and not based on Islam.

I would say, Atlas, that you're not a terrorisr because you're are far better person than those who are.

We may not agree on everything, religion especially, but I've found you to be a very decent person.

It was never about them.
It's about me, and the standard I want to follow. I don't want to follow lies, it's quite insulting. Honesty and telling the real tale is what really matters.

I didn't invent TBH; I re-read and stuck to the source. Nothing more; nothing less.
