This is Bob's sister's back yard at Russell Island, it is what I wrote the poem about. When the tide is out it looks like a drying African riverbed. And notice the log with the stump sticking up, it looks like a submarine when the tide is in. And watching that tide go in and out with the Kookaburras screaming like monkeys really gives one the feeling you should be in some African jungle and not Australia.

Imagine, though, that this was really a real croc, and you didn't realize it until it was too late.
The trainers at the park were saying in Norther Australia to stay out of water and even on docks don't lean over or dangle your limbs over the water. But I am more to the south and they don't have salt water crocks here.

I just saw an add for insect repellent here in Australia on TV, not for cats or dogs, BUT HORSES. Ok, sure people own horses, but how many? It just struck me as funny. The streets are paved with gold here.

I remember seeing Kookaburras in or near the children's section at the San Diego zoo as a kid, and they do sound like an entire troop of screaming monkeys.Never got to pet a Koala. Are you sure the locals weren't just pulling your leg about that salty being a statue. Could have been hibernating.
It is my last two days here. Tuesday I am going home. I don't want to go home.
The other night I was at a pub called "Redland Hotel", yea I know, but just a bar, no hotel rooms. Anywho, they had an acoustic guitarist playing there. I jokingly asked him to play Metallica. HE DID, he played "Nothing Else Matters". I was not expecting that. If anyone reading this ever visits Brisbane, check out "Redland Hotel pub" in Victoria Point.

My favorite building of downtown Brisbane. The pictures don't do it justice. below you can see what appears to be whit dashes, on the windows that zig zag up the building. It is not actually on the windows. They are interior pipes that snake up the interior of the building just inside the windows.

Actually I might be wrong, I just looked at some detailed photos of inside, they seem to be square beams, just placed in the right place to create that pattern. But still impressive to me regardless. If anyone reading this plans on traveling here the Address is 111 Eagle Street downtown Brisbane.
