My Orthodox Jewish friends tell me that there is no High Priest because there is no Temple in Jerusalem.  They are very well aware that they no longer sacrifice animals, they consider animal sacrifice to be a barbaric historical practice that humanity has outgrown. They tell me that when the Temple is rebuilt, a High Priest will be chosen.

So why do you follow the Christian religion when your version doesn't match the biblical version?

The concept of "Jew" originated in the early 12th Century and it was the 16th Century before the current word "Jew" was first used.  Before that they were "Israelites" or something else. Maybe all of the Israelites died off and another group assumed their identity without doing the animal sacrifice thing that the Israelites did and that's still followed by muslims?
