Unless there was a particular problem with some Mexicans in your area, that seems just ridiculous to me.

Of course, I did live in an area, which was pretty racists.   I had my co-workers once telling me, that if a Black Baptist minister moved in next door, that it would lower your property value.   I asked if they knew of any places like this... a cheap house with nice neighbors sounded right up my ally.

My two cents: it could be that your friend has something to learn about Mexicans... like they are human beings first and Mexicans second. Sometimes little weird moments like that are opportunities for growth. I like to remain optimistic when confronted with situations like that.

But then again, my optimism has gotten me in trouble sometimes. I guess its worth keeping in mind that you might have gotten a peek at her inner ignorance. If she really has a negative opinion of Mexicans, you don't need to put up with her shit.

But let me end on a positive note. If she is acting funny about your ethnicity, maybe she's just internalized some bad ideas along the way. What better way to fix that then to demonstrate that her preconceived notions are wrong? All of us have misunderstandings of one kind or another. It's nice when people are patient with us in those circumstances, provided we are willing to open our minds and challenge our prejudices.

Yeah, what your friend did is pretty inconsiderate and/or prejudiced. You're a hottie, no matter what your derivation.   It would be a better place (the entire world!) if people would just look at people as people as opposed to some "other", whatever that "other" entailed. Unless, of course, you turned out to be an xtian.

I supported Trump and have no problem with Mexicans and I would never verbally abuse anyone who is different than I am, know why, because I'm different than they are. I'm not going to get into the political stuff here because that's not what this thread is about. Jack's friend was insecure with her being Mexican and both will have to work that out and I hope they do. You think you can lump all people into little piles by politics or religion and ect., well you can't. Your post is nothing different than what Jack's friend did to her and I will not apologize for supporting Trump nor loving Mexican food. I have a favorite Mexican restaurant I go to just because Hector does authentic food and then he also does food for the American taste buds.
