Kickin Em While They Are Down
December 3, 2010 at 12:46 pm
The unemployed seems to be the next class of people that the GOP, through FAUX and other media is going after with their old blame the victim routine. Juan Williams isn't the first to go here. Of course, you have the idiots who don't realize how close to personal disaster they actually live accepting this new variation on the Cadillac driving Welfare Queen. Being unemployed is bad enough but now FAUX is trying to attach stigma and shame to the situation.
Quote:Juan Williams told Fox News' Megyn Kelly that extended unemployment benefits are harmful to peoples' work ethic and basic values. (H/T TPM)
The two were speaking about the fight over the extension of the benefits on Thursday's "America Live." Kelly told Williams that a man she knows is staying on unemployment because his jobless benefits bring him more money than a potential job.
"To me it's crazy because the longer that person is unemployed the more difficult it is then for them to get a job," Williams said. He continued:
"Because employers, potential employers, will look and see that gee, they've been out forever, it doesn't make sense. And I think that's partly playing in to this cycle. And at some point then it becomes a matter of you lose your work ethic, your values are impacted, you know, getting up, showing up, dressing well, all that good stuff. So I don't know that that's smart."

The GOP in its current state is nothing more then a giant wall in the face of progression. They are generally idiots. There was a congressman that said that global warming is not real because well god already flooded this planet and promised not to do it again. This is the stupidity we are dealing with. I discredit the GOP because of their association with the religious right. If they believe that garbage their minds are flawed so they can't possibly be able to make good rational governmental decisions.

That is a problem, maybe prices need to come down or wages go up.
There is a huge disparity in the amount of wealth distribution.

Many of those who are down and getting kicked will exhibit their unworthiness for better treatment by voting for the kicker the next time around too.

How many weeks of unemployment should they get before going on welfare? 2 years? 3 years? Indefinately?

Extending unemployment benefits will save about 600,000 jobs. Unemployment extensions during a down economy help to stimulate the economy.

So how many jobs will cutting taxes for the top 2% create?

How will it save jobs? We have states borrowing tens of millions each week just to pay for them. Where do you think that money comes from? People aren't buying goods for themost part, except for food. They are making mortgage or rent payments. Utility payments. Ect... It's not expanding the economy.

Extending unemployment is the most stimulative form of government spending, far superior to tax cuts.
How about we exclude the top 2% of earners for the extension of the Bush tax cuts and put that money toward unemployment benefits?
Or are you going to be one of those who say that we don't need to worry about how to pay for tax cuts but stimulus spending must be paid for?

There is nothing to pay for. We have been at the current rates for 7 years. If you want to save a couple of trillion, let the tax increases hit everyone. The benefits do not stimuluate the economy. Otherwise with all of those unemployed, the economy should be roaring along.

Which is part of what's run up the deficit so badly.

Or just let them hit the people who need tax relief the least and who are just going to save the money or invest it overseas anyway.

Actually, the economy is doing much better now than under Republican rule two years ago, thank you.
