This is amusing. Bannon and Putin with their dicks up Britain's ass.

Quote:For two years, observers have speculated that the June, 2016, Brexit campaign in the U.K. served as a petri dish for Donald Trump’s Presidential campaign in the United States. Now there is new evidence that it did. Newly surfaced e-mails show that the former Trump adviser Steve Bannon, and Cambridge Analytica, the Big Data company that he worked for at the time, were simultaneously incubating both nationalist political movements in 2015.

So the Scots aren't happy, huh?

This isn't going to end well. Could end up in the same boat we were in two years ago... Just a lot poorer, and with less say in our futures.

The good people of mainland UK can now see what sort of gobshites the DUP are. They claim to represent people of Northern Ireland . Business leaders and farmers in the North - both nationalist and unionist - have cautiously welcomed the deal. They see a no deal scenario as disastrous. But the DUP don't give a fuck. They are sticking to their "No surrender" sectarian politics. How the fuck did May ever sign a deal with them. As it stands with the backstop, the North gets the best of both worlds which would piss off Scotland big time. This Brexit carry-on could see the break up of the union. Happy days.

This is almost making me think that May's deal is a good thing. Ireland re-unifying. Scotland getting its independence and rejoining the EU. The rest of the UK being forced to accept higher EU standards because they no longer have a say and can't object on behalf if Big Business. The end of the empire mentality. The Tories out of power for a very long time. Then eventually the baby boomers die off and the younger generations embrace the EU.

Here is a link to article 50. It is only a few paragraphs long. There is provision to extend the 2 year cut off period that would require agreement from other EU countries. It says nothing about what happens if a country changes its mind after triggering A50 but before the 2 years has passed ( probably because nobody imagined that situation would arise).
My conclusion is that if UK formally announces it no longer wishes to continue with the process that we would simply continue as things are with all the rebates etc intact. Of course everyone would be pissed off with the colossal waste of time and effort, but it would be business as usual.
And your conclusion would be wrong. Because in any negotiating process, there are two sides which have to agree on the final product. And any revocation of Article 50 will either a) be unilateral by the UK but not recognised by the EU (therefore no-deal Brexit) or b) by giving significant concessions to get the EU to agree which will mean, at least, entering Schengen and the Euro, acceptance of tighter bank controls and a Robin Hood International Transactions Tax and the revocation of the rebates and the other opt outs only the UK gets (and likely to include the cessation of Gibraltar, the bringing back in of the tax haven colonies under direct rule {or their full independence outside the EU, where they'll starve}). The simple fact of the matter is that the UK will not be allowed to stay in the EU on anything better than they'd be given if they reapplied to join twenty years after brexit. The UK under current conditions is too destructive of the EUs unity and goals.
Essentially, the EU cannot afford to give the UK a good deal to either leave or remain in the EU (aside from leaving under the Norway model) because that would be the quickest way to ensure that other countries would also buck for the exit, countries more central to the EU project than the UK ever was.

"The European Court of Justice has ruled the UK can cancel Brexit without the permission of the other 27 EU members.
The ECJ judges ruled this could be done without altering the terms of Britain's membership."
Looks like I was right.

You were, I was wrong on that. I didn't think the ECJ would give such a stupid judgement. Well it'll probably make any future A50 process much harder, as the EU will have no incentive to negotiate until they're certain the leaving country's not bluffing.
