You poor fuckers are both putting way too much thought into this.  Peterson is speaking directly out of his anus, about his political anxieties. 

Well, I can't speak for his motivations, but I can speak for mine.

That's cool man...I can, however, speak to his motivations.  I probably know a little bit about you too.  Enough to know that the two of you aren't running on the same OS.  

I like liberal values more than conservative ones, for the most part.  Technology is changing, and the world is getting smaller, and conserving the status quo seems unlikely to aid us in moving forward.

You don't have that in common with Peterson.  

However, when liberal memes are used to prevent free speech, to manipulate the values of the population, or to establish legal or financial policies that cannot possibly succeed, then I feel it's my responsibility as a free thinker and as a western-educated human being to resist it going too far.

Get back to me when that happens.

Some of the semantic and identity issues these days are stupid in my view.  WAY too much linguistic and legal consideration has been given to what to call a man in a dress, or a completely white woman who goes around telling everyone she's back.  When words are forced through social pressure to mean what they not-mean, then I'd say the society is insane, and I see this as extremely dangerous.

This is because the rules guiding behaviors are predicated upon a language which is precise enough for people to call things what they are.  Sentences like "My daughter was shocked because that woman didn't cover her penis in the locker room" need never be uttered in any sane society.

I appreciate your efforts to make the case, and I know what you're saying, but it's rather a specific claim and I don't think the current status establishes cause and effect so cleanly.

He refers to women "as chaos" routinely once he's brought it up. There's loads of parts all about it, and how they're so unfair to the poor males. It's painful to me reading the book, I wanted to give you a clear example. If you don't find the style he's using there offensive, I doubt more examples would convince you. All I can say is get the book for yourself and come to your own conclusions.

Well, I'm perfectly happy agreeing with much of what he's said and done, which I strongly agree with, and discounting or disagreeing with other positions. I've watched a couple videos where he's addressing the God idea, and I don't find his definitions or his approach to that issue particularly compelling. And Tizheruk is right-- the respect that we generally have for you as a cool-minded person adds credibility to what you're saying that I wouldn't assume in his case. I suppose I'll have to buy the book myself and see what I can make of it, but I'm starting to suspect I may not enjoy it that much after all.

My opinion of humanity overall is fairly negative. More and more, I'm convinced by Khemikal and others in their arguments about free will being illusory, and the "Well, what then?" is best answered by evolution-- we act as we do because that's what we are.

I would say the majority of women ARE cunts. This is not exactly because they are female, but because human beings are petty, spiteful and selfish, and are so very much because of the success of their gradually-increasing cuntiness through millions of years of evolution. I would also say that the majority of men are fuckface assholes, for the same reason. So all this human drama that's unfolding about gender issues and so on is really just 4 billion cunts duking it out with 4 billion fuckface assholes in a pile of shit. I dislike about half the people I meet almost instantly, and I'm sure that at least that many hate me-- and boy, do we all deserve each other. And I think we all know this. For everyone woman his is enraged by misogynistic words used by men, I'd bet a hundred dollars she's thought, "That bitch in the supermarket was such a cunt" at least once or twice a week.

That's also why we can have the technology to save the world, but instead we use cat memes to explain why we don't care to bother. I feel sorry for all the other animals that have to stand by helplessly while we find new ways to fuck them.

My opinion of humanity overall is fairly negative.  More and more, I'm convinced by Khemikal and others in their arguments about free will being illusory, and the "Well, what then?" is best answered by evolution-- we act as we do because that's what we are.

The trouble with this...and with peterson...is that even if this is what we are or were..it has no bearing on what we should be. Maybe what we should be is an unattainable goal...but...."don't assault and/or harass your coworkers" seems to set the bar low. I think we can manage, no matter how sexy her red lipstick is. I've never had a problem in that regard. Have you? I'm guessing no.

He made himself a celebrity by continuing to misrepresent a change in the law regarding transgender being a protected class in Canada. He either didn't understand the law and refused to admit this later, or else deliberately created a straw man of it.

Whether or not he has genuine points to go with this is irrelevant. This is cashing in on people's ignorance and prejudice, while being a completely dishonest douche. Like I said, he'd be a good politician.

If that isn't enough to make someone suspicious of him, then there's not much more I can say. I'm not saying everything he's done is bad. I just happen to have become aware of him at the tail end of his career, and it's not flattering.

I'm not sure how much of this Peterson would disagree with. He doesn't seem to be on a rampage against lipstick. He's mainly focused on the fact that we've evolved to behave certain ways, some of them sexual, and ignoring that reality in favor of identity politics (a term he uses a lot) doesn't actually improve anything.

I'm going to have to admit I may have been stretching when I talked about the subtitle of the book. It's possible this was a coincidence, and not him putting "women are cunts" in plain sight on the cover. I may have given him too much credit. I've began to think like him. To catch a monster, you have to become a monster. So I just squeezed the toothpaste right from the middle.
