Exactly.  The NRA sells political influence to prospective and established politicians in return for base support, which translates into donations...that they then dole out to family members of the board.

They say looney shit because looney shit makes people open up their wallets, convinced that they're in a life and death struggle for america. They say looney shit because looney shit is a well defined wedge issue with no ambiguity.
