Speaking as another outsider, close to the election is the best time to do it.  Trump's game has clearly been to subvert the election process.  Why would you give a guy like that a shot at another election?

Doesn’t all this serve to create the illusion that it’s already Trump vs Biden?

I don't think so.  It's more as if Trump convinced himself that Biden was going to get the Democratic slot, so that's who he went after.

This is something that makes them look busy, while not actually doing anything. Like trying to repeal the ACA while Obama is in office. There was a video where Biden said he wanted the republicans to retain some power, despite being nominally a democrat. Presumably so if he got elected, the friction with the republicans would give him an excuse to not actually get anything done.

I think there should be an impeachment. I just don't hold much hope that it will pass the senate, especially when the dem establishment has proven they don't know how to actually fight back.

I’m paranoid enough to think this might be a really bad ass chess move on Trump’s part. Get Biden’s senile ass up in the ring. Trump would destroy him.

I accurately predicted that (on TTA) if the Dems ran Hillary - the GOP could win with the corner fence post as their candidate.

Simple math. Half the ( D )s and all the ( R )s hated her.

Yeah, it’s all ego. It’s not like Trump blatantly broke the law, and that the rule of law is one of the foundational themes that separates democracy from a dictatorship that allows the ruler to do whatever the fuck he wants and get away with it because he’s the leader.

So tell me - why are the Dems going through with an impeachment that has virtually zero chance of passing the GOP majority Senate?

You are a fool if you expect anything other than a party line vote.

The ONLY reason I can see for this monumentally wasted effort is that the Dem leadership is so egotistical that they actually believe they can convince GOP members of Congress to join their holy crusade.

Is President Trump a clownish, immoral huckster that is a better suited for a circus midway rather than the White House?

Absolutely.

But-

There are more productive ways to prove a point.

Because he committed crimes, if he wasn't called on it then he would have proved himself above the law.

I still think the republicans will let him off but that is because you have a party that is completely devoid of any sort of morality.

His actions left the dems no choice.

That simply is not true.

As the Dems know there is realistcally no chance of ousting President Trump from office with impeachment - a letter of censure.would have the same result - a public rebuke of his actions - without wasting all the time they currently are.....

In fact - it would probably have more of an impact.

Short - quick - to the point.

Edit to add --- and MUCH more likely to get some ( R ) support.

Yeah and I'm the queen of Sheba. You're one of those guys who'd have been goose stepping right up until 08/05/1945 and afterwards denying that he was ever within a square mile of a Nazi.

No, it's more a case of Biden in his dotage is returning to the patterns of his youth, i.e. those of a 60's era white supremacist. He believes he can work with the traitor party because like them, he's no fan of the negro. But politics doesn't work like that any more, first the Democrat base will destroy him, and second the traitor party won't work with anyone.
