It is because they do not like him. However it is helpful they have something on him that can get him potentially impeached. I think it is rather foolish for anyone to believe that the left is doing this in the name of upholding the law. It is for political points. Dems likely have just as much corruption as the Right does. And anyone who doesn't think so is rather foolish too.

If impeachment were solely about scoring political points, you'd have had a lot more impeachments than just the 17 in your history.

There were several attempts at impeaching Obama for Political points. The only difference is they didn't have anything that was impeachable. My point being is that this is personal for Dems. But they have something to actually impeach him on. I guess my only point is that I'm not going to pretend that Dems are some kind of Patriots for simply doing what they are supposed to be doing.

Well, what's 'impeachable' is whatever the House decides is impeachable.  But we're in the rare situation where a President under impeachment has admitted to an offense both illegal AND impeachable.

In all (now) 4 instances of impeachment in United States history, the president has admitted to an offense both illegal and impeachable.

Some have negotiated with the public, after admitting their guilt, insisting that they were not criminally liable....but none have ever successfully managed to throw mere reality into the oubliette. If this one pulls that off, it really will be historic.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Didn't Nixon claim that merely being President made his acts not illegal?

Some people (not many, but some) are opening their eyes to the fact that Mitch McConnell and Lindsey Graham are Putin and Trump's bitches. Mitch McConnell literally said that he wouldn't have a fair trial or do his fucking job. Sure, some people are cool with that. They're all fuckups that aren't worth the oxygen they waste. But some people see it, and go "What the fucking hell have I been supporting these last few years?"
"Tradition" is just a word people use to make themselves feel better about being an asshole.
