You're impressed by his donation of a salary, when he donates that salary to government agencies in which he's installed loyalists who disburse those amounts, and more than those amounts, out to a network of affiliated "consultants". He may be doing whatever he does for country, but that country isn't the us of a - just ask his two idiot sons.
Actually we've no evidence that he donated his salary, apart from his personal say so that one time in 2016 he brought out a novelty cheque for a press conference. And given he lies about everything else, what odds he's lying about the donations, especially now that we know he's up to his toupee line in debt.

Well, there's a record of where he donated it, and I see no particular reason to doubt that he funnels that sum in the same manner that he handles any other cash that comes his way.
Everything about the mans history, taxes, and even this specific tidbit speak to a person who is either bad at business, or good at money laundering - and we can let the trumpers decide which they prefer. I have confidence in their ability to turn either into a virtue worthy of conferring a right to lifetime dictatorship.

It isn’t unheard of for a president to donate his salary (Hoover and Kennedy both did it), so I expect Trump has as well.
It’d be interesting to see the financial return on his ‘donations’, though.
