James Randi deserves his own RIP thread.
Just found out on Twitter. 2020 keeps getting sucker and sucker.

I loved watching Randi debunk cons like psychics.

Randi taught me how to cut the deck to the ace of hearts every time.

"You just have a deck with 52 ace of hearts." I wrote that down carefully.

pure legend

I had a deck as a kid where I could cut to an ace of spades every time.  Only 26 were that card.  Shaved cards and a static coating allowed the deck to look correct when riffled or fanned one way, but you could always cut to the ace of spades.

Unfortunately you would need 52 decks to do the trick to the same audience multiple times.

Everything decays. Yet there's still a new day tomorrow. Platitudes aside, rest now, Amazing, you've deserved it.

That's a loss.
Also, he was old and already fighting illnesses, but for years now when ever he gave lectures or had public appearances he mentioned that he's working on at least two books, and I thought "You better finish them before it's too late."
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

So sorry to hear this although the man was 92.

I concur about him deserving his own RIP thread. He was a legend in the atheist community and a major thorn to scam artists.
Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.
