Sadly Randi is not in a better place, or he might be. It all depends on if he surrendered in his last moments. Everyone has guilty consciences. Everyone is worried about hell, at least in the back of their minds. I believe in God and do all i can to please Him, and i am worried about hell, honestly.

Randi isn't anywhere as his own cognition, he is dead. He wasn't around 13.8 billion years go, much less 4 billion years ago. And while he will live on in the memories of those who knew of him, he is still dead. He isn't in heaven, he isn't in hell. He is simply dead. When our species goes extinct, and it will, even long before our planet dies, not one famous person, friend or foe alike, both rich and poor, when our species goes extinct, there will be no record of our species. The universe will go on without us.

No, it is not sexy, it is a harsh morbid reality. Humans are not the center of the universe, we are not even the apex of life on earth. We are a mere blip in cosmic time.

The idea of spending one's life to please a master is slavery. I find no value in living life in fear. The real social contract isn't a belief in old mythology in the age of kings. The real modern social contract is knowing that cooperation isn't the goal of dominance over others, or subservience, but one of a mutual social contract, not of gods or or superstition, but of equality and cooperation and fact based agreement.

I will not fool myself into thinking an "atheist utopia" is possible, it isn't. I can value the likes of say Martin Luther King Jr, Malala and Anne Frank as an atheist. But, that does not mean that I am obligated to blindly buy any god claim, anymore than you would claims of Ra, Apollo or Thor.

Randi was a valiant advocate for facts and fought against con jobs. It is pretty pathetic to me that Sylvia Brown spent her life conning people and getting rich doing it. But she once predicted her own death and was way off on the date.

I love the likes of Penn & Teller. They flat out tell everyone from the start everything they do is an illusion, a trick. I have no problem with that. But cons, they are not out just to make money entertaining you, they are vile snake oil salesmen. Randi spent his life fighting con artists.

At work.

It's sad that Master James has passed. The world is a dimmer place now that it lacks his presence. Sad

As for Prycejosh1987?

They seem to just want to be the 'Champion chess pigeon' in thread replies.

Prycejosh1987 just seems to pop into threads, sh!t everywhere with their written diarrhea and then leaving. Their job of fouling everything seemingly successful.

Oh would you ever fuck off! Not everybody is as childishly afraid of the future as you are.

You are squandering your only existence on a fraudulent belief. Your God is bogus. Grow up and enjoy the life you have now because you won't get another one in an imaginary future world.

Skeptical Inquirer magazine is making an issue devoted to James Randi, and as you can see there are articles by some quite prominent people

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Penn & Teller really captured with words what James Randi was all about in S.I. magazine. Here's an excerpt

Quote:Randi proved being a skeptic is fun. The skeptical community into which Randi came was full of serious scholars. Excellent scientists but not really showmen. Randi convinced the world that the skeptical approach is a blast. He wrote and performed with joyful, stinging, defiant wit. He gave skepticism all the fun and romance of a daredevil magic show. He showed how advocating science can be wicked fun, rebellious, full of high adventure, spy-movie derring-do, and laughs.

Randi proved you could be skeptical without ever being cynical. Randi never hypothesized the worst in people. He never gave up on humanity. He didn’t believe in evil. He trusted and he loved. He was always kind. Randi was the world’s most famous skeptic, but he was never skeptical of love. Randi knew it existed, and Randi’s whole being proved it. Love was in Randi’s eyes and his smile. Randi had love enough for everyone. [...] And there are many millions more whose world was made better by Randi in every medium. That won’t stop. His wisdom, genius, and love will live on for a good long time. Randi proved to us that we really can make the world better. He did it.

I would rather spend eternity in hell with satan who at least is a prick to your face then your pathetic, sour, yellow bellied, deceiving twatwaffle that resides over heaven. Seriously, kindly choke ona bag of cocks. You epitomize everything wrong with a human being.

Twatwaffle.

That deserves to go in the OED alongside Cockwomble.
