Please Justify This Police Action For Me

This is where a simple (if infuriating) fact arises.

Because we're the kind of people who can be convinced that a justification for macing a kid isn't a justification for macing a kid in precisely the same way that we can be convinced that a laundry list of racist shit isn't racist - we're going to keep macing kids in the face, blaming their subwhite hillbilly mothers. Blaming their cantelope calves and whatever other silly fucking thing we use to turn nine year old girls into violent 20 year old "suspects". Suspects, who...for some odd reason, are the kinds of people we -would- mace, for reasons. Retreating into an absurd argument about what nutritionists have to say on the matter, or prizefighters have to say on the matter, when other people realize that they're dealing with idiots.

Seems all pretty fucking simple to me. Don't fucking mace a 9 year old. I don't give two fucks if their parents are Charles Manson and Lizzie Borden. They could be 250 lb future linebackers in the nfl, and that still wouldn't excuse macing a goddamn child in the face. Somehow the 9 year old gets it better than so many fucking adults. And that is absolutely pathetic tbqh. Yes, she's acting like a child. Maybe because she is a child.

Having started this thread, Imma pop in and say that I never expected some of the responses (though maybe I should have done). That people would try to share blame for a child being maced in face IS an attempt at justifying macing a child in the face.

Of course it’s a justification. Blame-shifting to the parents means that the cops had no other option but to pepper spray this child.

Is her family dynamic pretty well fucked? Clearly, or she wouldn’t wouldn’t have been removed from the home by the police (however temporarily). But at some point in this sad, sad situation, the cops made a conscious decision to pepper spray her - there was no point at which NOT spraying her was NOT an option. Her parents are almost certainly responsible for her emotional issues, but the blame for macing her in the face lies with the cops alone.

Even I wouldn't mace a nine year old, and I'd kill a nine year old. I never even thought of doing a nine year old harm until I had one. I remind my own kids of that shit all the time, I dont wake up thinking "how can I fuck with you today"...they lead me to it.

Police Pepper Spray Handcuffed 9 Year Old

This child was already in restraints, but refused to put her feet inside the police car. There were at least six officers on scene. One cop told the girl, 'You're going to get pepper spray in your eyeballs', to which another officer replied, 'At this point, just go ahead and spray her.'

There is no scenario that I can see under which this was handled correctly. If your solution to an unruly nine year old girl is to pepper spray her, you shouldn't be a cop in the first place.
