Which migrants are the United States' responsibility?

Any found within our borders, as per the constitution of the united states of america, as well as a mountain of trial law reasserting and reestablishing that fact every time we intentionally breach it for political convenience. Hard to believe, I know..but..once upon a time, we felt like it was both our responsibility and to our benefit to treat human beings as if they were human beings. Now we turn em out at port like defective product...and it's cost us a huge amount of money in addition to reputational harm. An entire country full of immigrants that turned nativist, concerned about room in lifeboats, it's fucking ludicrous.

Nope.

Our borders extend to 12 miles out from the shoreline.

I was in the Coast Guard during the 1980's rush of Cubans fleeing Cuba. The USCG operated ( and Justice Dept upheld) the " wet foot/ dry foot" order.

If they made it to shore - we allowed them to stay. If they didn' t they got sent back....

Who can come and stay has NEVER been simple and the criteria constantly changes....

Thereyet asked which migrants we were responsible for, not who could come or who could stay. The answer is -all of them, as per our law-. In fact..again as per our law, anyone can come and make a claim - but we've been intentionally fucking up there..too.

Yes, even the ones offshore, btw. The coastguard routinely violated the rights of refugees and believed it to be an acceptable and common practice. Your experience is an attestation to that. The coast guard, for it's part, claims that the us has routinely violated -it's- rights..... Talk about a pirate ship full of bilge rat pricks.

To nativists....the cruelty, ambiguity, and impotency of our policies and those protections our law affords is the point. To have it as fucked up as possible is the goal. That, they imagine, will dissuade invaders. Thinking that you aren't responsible by law or imagining that the law didn't say so... just because you personally abandoned your duties in that regard with the blessing of your superiors... is too silly to comment any further on.

Ironically, the recent scotus decision stripping immigration policy of it's near-sacred character as the sole purview of the executive will probably end up doing more good than harm, even though it was intentionally made to cause further harm.

1: Since no one gave the op what he wanted;
Gaaaaah you're lying! Biden is perfect [Insert Newsmax/OAN piece gushing about trump but replace his name with Biden].

2: As for grammar police. I leave any grammar and spelling errors intact for those with no other rejoinder.

Just saw clips of Psaki’s answer evasion about this. It boiled down to, ‘Sure, we’re sending them back to that hell hole, but we’re also giving big bunches of money to the leaders of that hell hole, because we just KNOW they’re going to do the right thing.’

Pull the other one.

I have just been trying to get the rules/laws. You have been the one to make an attempt to provide such. Thank you.

RE: President Biden orders mass deportation of immigrants
Well, is it bad as when Trump was the president? No.

Could it be done better? I don't know. I need answers. Should everyone who wants to cross the border be allowed to the US?

And also, why is it that the US is the only country in the world where people can live?

If they are going to die in Haiti, as they claim, they can always stay in Mexico or some of the Southern countries, but no. It's always the USA or death.

I mean forget about Biden, there is obviously an enormous crisis happening in Mexico when people would rather die than live there.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

While I don't fully agree, in many ways, Biden is proving himself to be the mediocre and corporate-leaning politician that many progressives warned us about last year.
