Any postmortem diagnosis has very little academic credibility, especially when it comes from a non-specialist.

Then why did you bold only ‘epilepsy’? The clear implication is that you object to Mohammed being called an epileptic, but are fine with his being described as a narcissist.

Moron.

Does he object to me calling Mohammed a pedophile?, which, by the way, he was.

Claiming that a historical figure had epilepsy, autism, etc., is different than trying to make a clinical diagnosis, which only a licensed clinician is able to do with a patient whom they have seen professionally. (Although, a number of psychiatrists did meet in conference to discuss President Donald Trump.)

Same defense at Nuremberg.

The defense at Nuremberg was "an order's an order*," not the sort of cultural relativism Ahriman's defending. And if you wonder why the US still supports them after all this horseshit, well, apart from the extremely complicated geopolitical shit in the area, they have the fucking oil. And this is what happens when you focus too much on dwindling energy sources.

*And, yes, I am well aware that it's popularly translated as "I was only following orders." This version's just more accurate to the original German Befehl ist Befehl.

Executions are unnecessary and cruel; 81 in one day is, at a minimum, poking due process of law in the eye.  By international standards of law, everyone is entitled to due process, and beheading 81 human beings in an afternoon is not due process.
I'm not a fan of due process to begin with. Criminals don't deserve that kind of consideration.

A murderer was captured and tried today... Sentence: Death. Execution at 6. All Net, All Channels.

They actually are. Heinlein was a crypto fascist. A sympathetic not completely terrible crypto fascist - but still. My favorite YA author (Jerkoff). I very recently re-read a compilation of his stories and commentary on his life. A fluffing commentary. I'm still comfortable and I think he would be comfortable -well delineated- with that appraisal. He really did think and write, with prescient knowledge of the inflection points for failure, that his Federation were the Good Guys. I agree. He was openly and defiantly unapologetic, in his life, in this regard....for what it's worth. He wrote and delivered speeches to that effect, with his own mouth.

His absolute best story, in my opinion, was about a boy and his dog, where his ideology was more easily and unobjectionably expressed - on Venus, iirc. Or, perhaps, in his Luna City thing. If I hadn't already made it super clear in my decade or so here that I'm a superfan....I'm a superfan. As such, this post can be disregarded as the compulsive rambling of a superfan.

I was specifically talking about the movie, not the novel. The movie (helmed by a man who spent much of his childhood in a country occupied by a certain regime that bore an alarming resemblance to the Federation) is an entirely different beast, one that specifically works under the assumption that the surface-level plot is just Federation propaganda with occasional glimpses at the shitty reality of Federation life occasionally coming through.

Also, it’s been donkeys since I read the original novel, but I don’t think the whole “murderer getting caught, tried, and executed in the span of less than a day” thing appeared in the book.

I am a bit Heinlein fan. I find his Libertarian leanings interesting (as in The Moon is a Harsh Mistress), and I loved they YA novels as a kid.

The Starship Troopers book has some fascist tendencies. The public floggings, and the idea that citizenship means the willingness to defend the "body politic". Those who don't, shouldn't be citizens.

The movie writers and director saw these as a bit sinister, and expanded on the fascist politics (and costumes) and the idea that Humans started the war.

The book didn't have any of that. I owned a tabletop simulation game of Starship Troopers, which was awesome. It might still be in my parents' house.

But on an unrelated note......81 people is not very many people, chump change really, and people die all the time from all kinds of causes. What makes this particular case special?

After withdrawing American forces from Afghanistan, Biden confiscated billions of dollars in Afghan funds from foreign banks. Then he gave half of it to people affected by 9-11, even though the Afghani people had little or nothing to do with 9-11. Basically Biden stole it, because he could. Some of it he will "give back" to Afghanistan as aid, which we can feel kind and generous about.

Anyway, far more than 81 people will die as a result of having their money stolen during a harsh winter when the economy was in bad shape anyway.

So you're right, in relation to the evils done consistently by the USA, 81 is chump change.

But the 81 in question were killed by Muslims, so it gives us license to get all mad and high and mighty and blame some amorphous thing called "religion." Because it isn't really about morality. It's about us vs. them.

Just like his fathers stole the gold of the world after WW2, never trusted the deep-state, don't forget that Biden, Hillary and their team (AKA the Deep State or Military industrial Complex) are the reason extremist Jihadism exist:

The 81 executed has nothing to do with religion; but everything to do with the Sauds (especially MBS) fearing a revolt.

The killed were mostly Shiite, with many Sunnies who the government don't like.

Saudi Arabia is not a Muslim country from the get go; listen to Hillary.
