Wasn't meant to be a rebuttal, I find the Quran confusing and unclear on the topic, which is what I should have said rather than silent.
I'm not anti-Christian. I'm anti-stupid.

Wiki has a good article on islamic mythology. It's significantly different than the christian mythology and that flows down(or up) to fundamental differences between the religions - but not different in the mistaken claims about our origins. Or in that it explicitly intended to offer such explanations. The idea, even, that these stories were or could have been silent on the matter is actually a product of this same syncretic attempt in western society. A polite negotiation to file away the abject failure of any attempt to reconcile our creation myths with reality as expressed through scientific consensus in order to minimize social discord.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Reminds me of the pogroms of the High Middle Ages when the first Crusaders, instead of marching south, marched north with the belief that if Europe was converted to the One True Faith that Jesus would come again. Many Jews refused to convert, instead opting for suicide or to be slain. Was it worth it? One phony religion versus another? As for me, I would have converted. Henry IV, in my opinion, must be regarded as being one of the most significant individuals of the Second Millennium, "(Insert whatever) is worth a Mass." In other words, some things are not worth dying for. RE: Learn the true mercy

That played out pretty clearly in the details of northern europe's conversion. In most cases, it was a political agreement between a handful of elites more than the reality on the ground. That took alot longer, and, as you mention..sustained and direct action with an incalculable list of casualties and collateral damage. Ultimately, though, the current religions we profess have shown their ability to incorporate or subsume similar explanations and narratives about the world if not immediately, then over the course of a few generations. In that light, the failure of those same religions to provide a compelling synthesis in the case of the current cultural truthmaker is new and may be profoundly consequential.

There you go, acknowledging the need to reconcile magic book with reality.
You're a good deal closer to these western atheists here on the board, Kloro, than your islamic forebearers- on this issue. Congratulations.
