Actually - it is - you might not like it - but here in this country it' s the standard.

Boru Odd how often people confuse those two things

Same standard applies morally.
At least here.

It manifestly does not. That which is legal is not necessarily moral, and contrary wise.

Fantasizing about committing a justifiable homicide, for example. Perfectly legal, not exactly moral. Actually committing a justifiable homicide? Also legal..even less moral.

I will never understand this mindset, being willing to kill someone to protect material things.

Exactly. Our murderous culture makes me ill.

Boru Keep repeating that. Maybe someone will believe you.
You are simply saying that " my morals are moral, because they are moral".
You give no REASON why being a law abiding citizen is not a high enough standard to gun ownership.
As morals are collective to a society - the one I live in says that you simply have to obey laws to own guns. It is a RIGHT to do so that can only be taken away from an individual by due process of law.
You just don' t like it.
Sorry. Your opinion isn' t really a consideration of how we conduct ourselves in our country.
If we come to New Zealand we will be happy to play by your rules.

Being a law abiding citizen -is- a high enough legal standard you frothing loon. Our laws say absofuckinglutely nothing about the morality of gun ownership - and that's intentional. We don't say, for example, that only the very best boys and girls can own a gun...which is a super convenient thing for you, I'd imagine.

Is it illegal? Is it unethical? Would you do it?
It's actually not illegal for me to dump non native fish in the creek. It's highly unethical. I'd certainly do it.
