Almost as though they don't read their own magic book.
Church is like a weekly book club where no one has done the assigned reading.

Jesus isn't coming back, having entered a state of very advanced decomposition.

Jesus is a hack.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Jesus advocated for generosity, not forced sharing through state run coercion. As far as I can tell Jesus spoke very little on political philosophy, he didn't come here to coerce people with governmental power, he came here to act as a guide for the common man.

Jesus was apolitical, but not you, huh? You're talkin bout Those Damned Commies! and giving your god marching orders.
Borus comment about a book club without anyone doing the reading seems spot on. Jesus, in just one story, manages to call a woman a literal bitch for being from the wrong tribe....questioning why he should heal an untermensch's duaghter. She mentions that even dogs like her get scraps at the masters table...and this makes jesus laugh heartily.

Jesus was not for the poor, at least if you look at the history because in medieval times, 95% of people were poor peasants who were oppressed thanks to Jesus' philosophy. Kings, aristocracy, and clergy had a divine right to be cruel towards the poor/ peasants.

Matthew 22: 17-21
Tell us, then, what you think. Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar, or not?” But Jesus, aware of their malice, said, “Why put me to the test, you hypocrites? Show me the coin for the tax.” And they brought him a denarius. And Jesus said to them, “Whose likeness and inscription is this?” They said, “Caesar's.” Then he said to them, “Therefore render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's.”
The advice from Jesus on how his followers should relate to the government can be summarized as: pay your taxes. Paul echoes this in his Epistle to the Romans.

If the quote is even authentic; the early Christians were Roman ass-kissers at this point in their history.
