It' s because a school is a soft target. I.e. lotsa easy targets that won' t fight back.
...
So - how do you change that?
Stop it, the school was in no way a "soft" target, the shooter literally went through 3 police officers... so much for the good guy with guns theory...

SROs are often off duty cops picking up extra coin with the authority of their uniform and cruiser, when they aren’t on duty and assigned to a school.
Turned into a common cop hater awfully quick, huh?

I'm just debunking your lie that the school was a soft target. BTW I like how you're just going to ignore the 3 police officers and focus on an security guard (assuming you're talking about an actual security guard and not a cop).

Every time there's a massacre of children in school, the cries of "Don't take our guns!" rings loud. A hell of a lot louder than "Don't kill our children."
It's fucked up.

"The problem is Mental Health!" they'll scream.
Because other countries don't have mental health problems. Just America. We're unique that way.
And we'll do nothing to even try to solve that problem.
"It's Video Games!"
Because other countries don't have video games. Just America. Only country in the world to play video games.
It's time people face facts. America's problem is the gun culture we have. How many other western countries have large swaths of people who fantasize about taking on the Government armed with an AR-15?
Buying a gun should not be an easy process. And certain guns should be owned by nobody.
Requirements to purchase a weapon:
Step 1: You must be 21 years of age or older. We don't trust 20 year olds to drink an alcoholic beverage, I'm not sure why we're trusting them with a Gun.
Step 2: You must take a firearms class and pass an exam.
Step 3: You must pass a mental health check
Step 4: You will be interviewed by Police and must explain in writing why you need this gun
Step 5: You must purchase a Gun Safe and have it inspected by police.
Step 6: You must pass a thorough background check, which includes social media check, and interviews with friends, neighbors and co-workers. Domestic Violence charges automatically disqualify you from owning a firearm for life. If you are charged with domestic violence, any guns you own are immediately confiscated.
Step 7: If you wish to keep your guns, you must undergo a mental health evaluation every 3 years.
Certain guns should no longer be available to purchase. AR-15's among them. If you really like the feel of an AR-15 you may apply for a gun range permit, which will allow you to go to a gun range and shoot an AR-15 that cannot be taken off the premises by any means. Same applies to similar guns. If you want to hunt with one, too bad. Sucks to be you, I guess.
That's what we should do. We won't. But it'd be the reasonable thing to do.

Don't feed him. "Soft target" is simply one lie among many in their quiver full of dodges. The shopping center last week could be considered a "soft target", move theatres, concerts, hotels, workplaces, are all usually low security because most people expect not to be turned into swiss cheese when they leave their house.
When they cant get away with using "soft target" they will pull out "look at urban cities", "Its the mentally ill", "Its religious violence, but don't point to the KKK, there are good people on both sides", "Its the violent felons" which is bullshit because many of these mass shooters have no record of violence before the shooting.
Next shooting it will be, "We need to nuke the hurricanes" or, "maybe we can drink bleach". Anything but accept we have a flooded market and ease of access problem.

Frankly, I don't think the next step is going to be "nuke the hurricanes" or "drink bleach." It's likely going to be "why is this a problem?" And when I say this, I don't necessarily mean "the mass shooting phoenomenon is overblown", more "I see no reason to not see this as a good thing." And before you think this is extreme, Former President and current Republican frontrunner Donald Trump has just "retruthed" a post on his social media platform advocating for Civil War less than a week ago.
And remember, The shooting in Buffalo last week was prompted by a conspiracy theory that A) is quickly becoming mainstream among the Republican party, and B) I legitimately cannot imagine being solved by a believer by any means but violence.

I was being sarcastic. But the GOP and the industry and it's lobbies do play whack a mole with their excuses, they shuffle them around like a deck of cards.

Governor Abbott expressed grief over the shootings. Not enough to do anything about it, of course. Isn't that touching.
