This is a very dumb position. Being Anti Capitalist and not liking certain Right-Wing figures doesn't make you not Right-Wing. Plenty of Right-Wing extremists don't like capitalism because they believe it's run by "Globalists" and don't like Right-Wing figures because they aren't extreme enough. So your position is nonsense.

Lol, there is no comparison between these two groups a hand full of kids in the black block and a few dozen rioters is nothing compared to the paranoid and heavily armed nutjob wing of the Republican party. Who won't smash a few windows they will go full Night Of The Long Knives, And no one lied about shooter politics they were on your side of the political spectrum and motivated by rhetoric your side popularized and guns are not a right given by God or anyone else, And you can't smear what already looks bad.

Glad you went back to it. I’m still processing the idea that anyone, under ANY circumstances, could even potentially equate the mass murder of fourth graders to civil rights activism.

Boru
I know it's freaking wild the mental gymnastics you need to do to get to a position like that.

He may well have had a CCW piece on him - but may have decided a ultra compact .380 wasn' t ideal for a hostage situation.

I don't know if he had a gun - nor do you or anyone else here - but I would be surprised if he was unarmed.

I know I wouldn' t go into such a situation with any light CCW pistol.
Jesus fuck.

If he had a gun with him, why would he borrow one?

I am over this shit.  Something has to change.  And if it means that fewer people get to have guns, so be it.

How many little kids have to worry about dying by getting shot at school do we really need?  Like they aren't going to grow up fucked up after watching their friends and teacher killed while the police stand by waiting for a key?

I'm so done.  For one of the few times I agree with 37 - you are a gun worshipper.  Everyone else is collateral damage.

^^^^^^^ BINGO

And I still never get what a good stopping point as far as making firearms would be. America already has 400 million firearms. 1 billion, 10 billion 50 billion firearms? Firearms are not like perishable foods, they last a long time.  But just like climate change, the firearm worshipers don't see the long term picture. Like people think one cold day, or one cold week, or one cold month means climate change isn't real.

And everyone SHOULD want firearms to be harder to get. Not as a punishment, but as an insurance to insure they are "kept out of the wrong hands", which the worshipers always claim they want to do, but run from that value when we agree with them.

One doesn't simply get to become a passenger jet pilot by simply saying "I want you to hire me". The airline craws up their ass if they are doing there job, make sure he is mentally fit, has the calm and endurance and training before they step out of the simulator into a real jet with real passengers.

OLB you should want this scrutiny too. You should want the firearm companies and shops and private sales to be held responsible so it doesn't make you look bad. Plus it makes society safer too, and I would hope everyone would ultimately want that. Otherwise if your attitude is "f you I got mine" "I am entitled" you are not out for the safety of the public, you are simply being insecure and selfish.

I explained why he would borrow a gun.

I carry a little bitty pistol chambered in .380. It is for close range - 20 feet. For the most part it is sufficient for any scenario I expect to encounter. That does not include taking on a maniac with a rifle. It would be better than nothing - but I would prefer to stack the deck more in my favor.

I expect the agent borrowed a shotgun because either 1. He had no gun.
Or
2. He felt the gun he had was insufficient for the task at hand.

Knowing many off duty LEOs carry light handguns - 38 special or smaller - I would bet on #2.

I do not worship guns.

I am simply realistic. Nobody is going to wave a magic wand and make all the bad guns disappear.

Blame the Chinese.

They invented gunpowder.....
Unstack that deck.

Off-duty agent responded to school shooting: "I asked my barber if he had a gun" (msn.com)

"I asked my barber if he had a gun," Albarado, a U.S. Customs and Border Protection agent, told CBS News on Wednesday. He had attended an awards ceremony at the school earlier that morning and was off duty, with his weapon at home.

The ‘transsexual’ claim comes from a photo misidentified as Ramos.

It’s a neat trick to be born in North Dakota and be an illegal alien.

Another mass shooting in Tulsa. 3 dead (4 counting the shooter). This time at a clinic. Guess we should've armed the nurses and doctors. Might as well arm everyone! Cause that's really going to make us safer I'm sure.
"Tradition" is just a word people use to make themselves feel better about being an asshole.

Can't go to school. Can't go to the doctor.

At least the Oklahoma police officers didn't stand in the yard waiting for someone to show up and do something.

4 more at a Tulsa hospital complex. But coddling the insecurities of worshipers is our duty. We must find those evil doors and bring them to justice. And protect the rights of gun's lives.

RE: THE Gun Thread
I hate it when Right-Wingers try and cherry-pick parts of a White Nationalist Terrorist manifesto's to try and BS people into believing they were on the left. One prominent example is when they tried pointing out the Christchurch shooter's Eco Fascism made him Left-Wing despite the fact you can easily see Tucker Carlson using the same rhetoric about how more immigrants make America "dirty" which is the same point the shooter was making. Or how they engaged in "Anti Capitalism" until you actually look into the context of their objection which is essentially their view that the economy is about serving their nationalist goals, not the " Capitalist Elites"(this is a code word for Jews) and that Capitalism is the tool these people imaginary villains use to justify immigration. My point is always actually read the shit they cite and if you are knowledgeable enough about  Fascist Rhetoric it becomes clear their positions are not Left, Wing.

The Texas legislature being out of session right now, nothing can happen until Abbott calls a special session, or the legislature comes back into session in Jan 2023. My money is on no special session being called, and Abbott hoping that yet another mass murder happening on his watch is once again forgotten.
