Well, if we're going with self-proclaimed authority, I did shoot expert marksman in the Air Force as a firefighter member of a Prime BEEF team. You may or may not know more than I, but you clearly had no idea what smart guns are, so if I were in your shoes I'd probably be a little more circumspect in my opinionatin'.

Your expertise, in short, will be judged by your audience. Right now I'm unimpressed.

It was a poor attempt at humor, but I am well aware of what a smart gun is "supposed" to be, when they prototyped nearly 30 years ago..........point of my improperly placed "smart gun, whats that" comment, was I challenge you to find one today, I think you will find the pickens to be quite slim, in that in the 3rd quarter of 2022, which is not even here yet.  I find it hard to believe that the companies will last, being as the only ones who would buy them, are those who dont really want people to have guns.

You know, I just entered this forum, and there seems to be a lot of aggression here.  I am just trying to get other perspectives, and not fight with others with pointed comments........ But as to my credentials.....not that it matters, being on an online forum, but:

A good point, and it touches on why we find ourselves where we do far beyond smart guns alone.  

Had the people who turned guns (..and so much else....)into a kingmaking wedge issue not groomed their base into ludicrous positions, to better exploit those people at the behest of those politicians owners, we would not be here in the first place. It's entirely likely that dumb guns, like dumb phones, would be a relic of the past we can't imagine having had to suffer through.

As it stands, sadly, we've sacrificed american innovation and american lives on the altar of the bloodgod.

And you can be no more true to your statement "sacrificed american innovation and american lives on the altar of the bloodgod" other than there is no bloodgod.  But there sure have been sacrifices.

You tell me. I think we should enforce our existing gun laws, address our severe issues with poverty and healthcare, and buy back at least some of the mounds of unsecured firearms idle in our country. Then, at least, we'd have some idea of what our Gun Problem actually looks like, and what sorts of further action, if any, specifically directed at that now un-muddied problem... we might take.

There should be no "left" or "right" on guns, but only one party is making it political.

And there is no "debate" to be had. There are just insecure assholes who insist our level of firearm violence and death is worth the price of them being fucking self entitled and selfish. Little kids being mowed in half is the price they are willing to pay to live in a "free" society. Fuck them. I don't care if it is kids or adults, no other country in the western world worships firearms to a slavish cult like level we do here. And it isn't even the majority, not even of gun owners. 

Where the fuck is my right not to have to worry about having my brains splattered all over the place merely for being out in public? FUCK THEM. I am tired of their fucking bullshit, they are just self entitled assholes who care nothing about public safety.
