You don't know shit.

To be fair, shit is probably one of the few things she does know.

It really is amazing. You're right, they don't want to lower their numbers.

Yet one of the posters shared a story of a Catholic family having to give a church back-pay (the family had stopped giving weekly donations) in order to get a funeral for a relative.

The church won't let you officially leave. Yet they have no qualms about swindling you if you've been a "bad Catholic"
The Church wouldn't baptize my oldest.  But baptized the child of a friend after her dad made a rather large contribution.

A friend's dad was a Presby minister.  He christened her.  I didn't bother with the other two.  By the time I had them I was over it

The concept of paying....actually paying with cash money...did it for me though I had doubts long before that.

Done all that and more and I am still considered Catholic.  Though I am not fully certain as to what perverted drugs are...

Fail on your part.

Have you tried going to Mass and punching a Catholic square in the jaw?

That trick will work with the Roman Pontiff, which will result in an automatic excommunication.

OP,

Write a letter to your local bishop stating your desire to be removed from the pedo-protection racket called the kathy-lick church, insult him personally and agregiously, and blaspheme the holey casper. That should move things along nicely.

It won't. It's a simple function of their business model. Going hat in hand to the various governments of the world "you've gotta help these 1.3 billion catholics, give me money!".
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Notice that they deep sixed it. Doesn't help them rake in the billions in government funds that they then pretend to be a charity with. You can still send in a little letter, sure - and it's going straight in the trash unread along with anything else that the shamans feel might pick "their" pockets.
