2024 US Presidential Election

I wonder about that bit.  In alot of direct assistance and attra programs we found that the poorest and least educated people have solutions for problems that stump wealthier and more educated people..probably in part due to proximity to the problem..and in general due to a relatively higher level of innovation and scrounging required to live at the bottom as opposed to the middle, let alone the top.

The well educated are often..from that point of view, disaster specialists.  Legal, medical, environmental.  The people we interact with day to day and the types of activities most directly responsible for the current conditions in our lives are not doctors..for example, whom americans rarely fucking see.  We need innovation in housing, food production, actual road work...basic shit.  What we have...is what the experts got us....and no one is feeling great about that right now.

Anecdotal, ofc...but we were a pretty deeply cooperative farm. We had people from the epa, usda, state ag comm, regional sustainable conference..all of it..telling us how to do anything we cared to ask - but what ended up working for us came from labor and customers..and whenever I interacted with other farms it was not as a visiting expert but an institutional cosigner to the methods and practices the field workers had come up with. Not just productive...labor management, resource management. Loss prevention. You name it.

If there was ever a moment to realize that top down leadership was failing us...this would have to be it, right? The bottom is not poor because it is uneducated, it is uneducated because it is poor. Repeat with raw smarts and talent. I think we've fallen into a meritocratic fantasy with education and outcomes.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

If you really can't believe it, go look at the election maps from 1980 and 1984. If that doesn't convince you, nothing will.

There’s a school of thought that she lost because Democrats truly thought Trump was unelectable and didn’t campaign as hard as they should have. Harris, Walz, and their surrogates should have held a minimum of 3-5 campaign events every day since Biden dropped out.

I’m not entirely sure I agree with this, but it’s an interesting speculation.

T-74 days for Trump to end Russia-Ukraine war and to bring “peace” to the Middle East (as promised).

At this point I hope he lives out his term. If he dies, we get Vance for who knows how long -- but long enough to cement the destruction of our democracy. I believe that this will be the last free and fair election I'll see in my lifetime.

Very hyperbolic reaction don't you think? How exactly will "they" destroy our democracy? By closing our open southern border? Or by not paying Ukraine to fight a war with Russia any more? Or by utilizing the natural resources we have here in the US?

Apparently TDS is very real, and seems to have infected most of the members of this forum.

The Southern border is not open.  But, thanks for playing.

She lost the election because she is the DUMBEST person to ever be nominated to run for the office of President of the United States. She couldn't/wouldn't give any kind of answer to a direct question, and is wholly unqualified to hold office, and she has the lowest approval rating of ANY vice president in US history. This alone should tell you why she lost in a landslide.

Then how did 11 to 16 million illegal immigrants just walk across our border?
