It's not about correctness, it's that your statements are not consistent with the scripture's internal logic.

If the implication here is that Jesus statement in Math 5:17 contradicts the Mosaic law in the Old Testament I would say that when I considered this years ago I came to the understanding that the law was not destroyed or abolished but fulfilled by Jesus life, His keeping of the law, and subsequent death and sacrifice on the cross.  The key words being fulfilled and not destroyed.

Going to pick this up again on Tuesday my friends. Until then thank you for your time and have a blessed evening.

Its the one they took on the Mayflower and you know how they fear change.

The first thing that comes to mind would be the eternal ramifications of Christianity if what it purports to be true is.

I can expound on that by stating why I should care if atheism, or any other religion for that matter proves to be true.

Okay. So there is heaven and hell. Why should I care? Are you suggesting I start obeying for my own sake?

"Atheism" is a lack of belief in gods, it's not a claim, so it can't "be true". If you mean why should you care if there is no God, I'd say you're wasting an awful lot of your (probably finite) life worrying about things that aren't real, following rules for no reason, and perpetuating baseless oral myths which are extremely divisive and dangerous.

Using one syllable words, can you explain String Theory?

Secondly, for me there are several questions that I was looking for the answers to.  What happens when we die?  Where did we come from?  Why are we here?  How was the universe created and for what purpose?  For me, science, other forms of religion and such did not supply me with a believable and  satisfactory answer that ties all of those questions together in a coherent answer.  The bible did however.  It took a long time for me to arrive at this conclusion as I had several sticking points along the way.  I found that when reading the bible and taking it all in as a whole (even some of the hard to believe parts) it tied a lot of things together cohesively.
You do realize don't you that people only became aware of the universe very recently.  In ancient times people thought that the Earth was all there was.  They thought that the lights that they saw in the night sky were simply tiny lights comparable to meteors they saw streaking through the atmosphere at night.  They had no idea what stars really are.  They thought that the visible planets they saw moving through the night sky were just tiny moving lights like the stars.  They had no idea what they were or where they were located.

Jesus thought that the stars would fall from heaven.  Today we know that that is simply impossible.  He had no clue what stars are.  Be smarter than Jesus.

Is this heading towards "obey or burn"?

Surely Christianity should mean more than that to me. This just sounds like a mugging.

RE: Christian answering questions too!
Welcome PETE!

I can ask a few questions...
1. Why is belief a requirement?
1.1. Why believe in stories written long ago, in a time and place cluttered by different religious and mythological beliefs?
1.2. Why is your belief biased by your upbringing?
1.2.1. Had you been raised in China, or Indonesia.... do you think you'd come to hold the same belief you do now? why?
1.3. How much of belief is a psychological crutch?
1.3.1. Is religious belief more than a psychological state? If not, then how do you explain all religious beliefs that mankind has held throughout the ages?
1.3.2. What do you say to the possibility that belief became a desired trait in societies, thus became evolutionary selected in?... but it hasn't been around for enough time to clear out all the non-believing individuals... and is a trait now in decline...

2. Are you aware of the Essenes?
2.1. What do you say of the possibility that the historical Jesus was an Essene?
2.2. Why, would you say, are the Essenes never mentioned in the bible? They were located in the proverbial "road to Damascus", after all...

3. Why the KJV? Why not something better, like the Vulgate? If you want to go sola scriptura, you should go for the purest, closest to the original possible text.... at least, that's what I would go for. I'm not very fond of the result of the broken telephone game (chinese whispers?).
