Anyone who actually thinks the US is a Christian nation simply hasn't done any study on the history of that era. The political realities of the time (fairly large Jewish population, tension between Catholics and Protestants, history teaching them that religion and governance is a terrible combination, many of the Founders straddling the line between deist and Christian, etc.) precluded it. They didn't want to risk the fledgling nation they paid for with blood and sacrifice over religious conflict.

Even more so since continental Europe and England just emerged from centuries of bloody religious fights. That's where their roots were, as well as in the enlightenment movement. It's understandable that they didn't want a new helping of all of this for their new nation.

Barton has carved out a nice niche for himself. While he is not taken seriously by anyone outside the Southern Baptist/Evangelical communities, he is a rock star to them (at least among the laity). Further proof that one can make a nice living by spoon feeding idiots what they desperately want to hear.

You can say what you like about me or pass judgements just like a Christian does, but at the end of the day, I don't spend my life on here as if it depended on it. I am here to simply have fun, have a laugh, have a craic, wum and troll. I guess I can be racist, I might not be racist, I could also be ageist or non-ageist, I could be a feminist or a non-feminist, I could be for equal rights for all, or I could say that every woman should get their tits out for the guys. I like the idea of burkhinis because it protects the dignity of Islamic women, I mean, why not, it gives them a sense of freedom to swim wherever they please.
I dislike the idea of police brutality and to be frightfully honest, they should be weeded out, fired and get sent to prison, preferably in general population.
