There has been much speculation among anthropologists and paleoanthropologists that fertility cults based on a mother-goddess concept significantly predate the more structured religions which arose after the agricultural revolution and the consequent growth of stratified societies.  The evidence for these concepts is slim.  Do a search on matriarchal religion.

I have no idea if that constitutes "feminism."

I guess, I guess not.

By some standards even that concept is not very feminist, as it places a woman's worth entirely on her ability to make babies. I'd imagine it's probably still preferable to the Abrahamic prescriptions for "good femalehood" though, marginally.

"Ironically like the nativist far-Right, which despises multiculturalism, but benefits from its ideas of difference to scapegoat the other and to promote its own white identity politics; these postmodernists, leftists, feminists and liberals also use multiculturalism, to side with the oppressor, by demanding respect and tolerance for oppression characterised as 'difference', no matter how intolerable."

Duh. Can you be a bit more specific?

How about you go get a dictionary, then we can start again when you're ready.

I think the ancient Irish certainly qualify as primitive. Women in that society could inherit and own property in their own right, could divorce a husband without cause (in which event, any property she brought into the marriage with her left with her), could have her husband fined for mistreating her, and was allowed a voice and a vote in clan decisions.

I'm not sure if that counts as 'feminism' in the current pejorative sense, but it is leaps and bounds ahead of how women are treated in some modern societies.

I'm asking if there was any feminist movement. Feminism is a movement, right?

Feminism:

Feminism is a socialist, anti-family, political movement that encourages women to leave their husbands, kill their children, practice witchcraft, destroy capitalism and become lesbians.

Glad I could clear that up for all of you.

There are many variations of feminism. If you don't think so, google it. We want to know what about feminism you would like to discuss. This you your thread, lets hear your ideas.

Or are you the theist here just baiting the hook(s) waiting for the gotcha moment?
