Ah yes the "We shouldn't have laws because criminals won't follow them argument " Congrates you just justified laws out of existence .

No, actually, it's not. The 2nd says you have the right to bear, commonly read as the right to own a gun. It doesn;t say that you can do whatever the hell you want with one.
None of our rights offer that.

Everyone CAN'T legally get a gun.
Problem children - psychos and felons can' t - legally. They can get them black market of course - where laws don' t apply.
Or from their parents who obtained them legally, then they drive to the nearby elementary school.
I mean for fuck's sake the FDA is cracking down on Juuls! Those stupid little e-cig USB sticks! It takes barely anything for the government to step in and regulate something if they have reason to believe it is harmful to the population at large, except guns. Because we treat them differently for no logical reason. Pro (and anti) gun people prepare arguments that they would never believe if applied to another similar, harmful thing. I don't get it! I don't understand gun culture!
I've lived in New York all my life but I just recently moved to northern Virginia right outside Washington DC. One of my roommates owns a CZ P-07 and he took me to a range to shoot it. It was the first time I ever shot a gun, minus a .22 that felt like a BB gun. It was fun, but not fun enough for me to see it as a bonafide "God-given" right. Marijuana is fun too, I don't see any reason to pass the 420th amendment to give me the RIGHT to possess it.

So because something can be acquired illegally we shouldn't have laws against it ..........

Or from their parents who obtained them legally, then they drive to the nearby elementary school. Plenty of those so far or the seller doesn't ask questions and gives a gun to a psycho anyway plenty of those too .

Which is illegal in 29 states, and could be made illegal in the rest.
Here's a list of states with CAP laws.

Criminals will do criminal shit, but the criminal shit that other people do is not an entirely pursuasive argument for punitive action taken against people who aren't committing those crimes, and, here in america..as you know..(for better or for worse, lol) we have to wait until a crime has been committed by a person in order to refer to that crime as cause for action against them.
If we want to reduce the amount of firearms obtained on the black market, we need to reduce the supply of guns on that market, make the penalties stiffer, and broadly enforce those laws already on the books to that effect (really, all of the above). None of that would require getting rid of the 2nd, and there is no 2nd amendment challenge to any of it.

Again, you're using generalized arguments that could be applied to a plethora of banned items and substances... but they're not, they never are. Why are guns so different!? Why should they be!?
How does one reduce black market gun supply? Will making penalties stiffer help... does it matter if we make something illegal extra illegal?

@ Amarok
Not really. I only listed those laws that specifically refer to guns. Other laws that very much would apply are any laws that refer to the responsibility of custodial care and minor endangerment.

Voluntary buybacks have worked here and elsewhere. Do speeding penalties reduce speeding? I'm not sure what you mean by extra illegal, I'm only telling you that the thing you referred to already is illegal, that there are laws explicitly set against it, and laws that by any rational reading would apply. That there is no need to die on the second amendment hill in order to pass such laws.
Our enforcement in both cases is spotty, and we've intentional defunded the organizations that are supposed to do that job. That is a problem in a way that the 2a isn't.
