What I meant is that his voice can be an acquired tasted.  I didn't ever have an issue with his lyrics.  Lay, Lady, Lay his voice and pacing was more mainstream.

Dylan's style is like admitting you need broccolli, spinach, but cant avoid the greasy cheeseburger.

But you are also talking to a guy, metaphorically , a very east coast middle class raised guy, who grew up with my own middle America "fuck those rednecks" attitude, who eventually became best friends to this day, who got me to value Woody Guthrie. If you told me 20 years ago I was going to write a poem about a Redneck friend, I would have called you crazy.

Point is, you can point out all your music tastes. You can point out all our differences. But does that change anything? Does it change that all humans shit, pee, fart, and want to avoid conflict, and want to survive?

Does the sentence I bolded mean something in your world?

If so, would you please translate it to something that can be understood by those not on planet Whackaloon?

And, not all humans want to avoid conflict nor do all human want to survive.  But nice gibberish just the same.

Did you just compare one of the most influential singer/songwriters of the 20th century to a greasy cheeseburger?  Seriously?

I love Dylan's Hard Rain.  Powerful lyrics and his voice is cool and greasy.  For those who can't stomach his vocals, try Dylan in the context of the Wilburys.

I have a fondness for bubble gum music.  But even at six that one made me cringe.

No, just the opposite. He is broccoli as far as lyrics. I am simply not a fan of his sound. Just like classical music is the top shelf stuff, but many are not into it. I like him as a human being, very liberal and compassionate, but I am not a fan of his voice or that era of music for that matter.

Dylan’s era runs from 1961 through right now. So, I guess this means you’re not really an ABBA fan.

If Bob Dylan tried to do a remake of ABBA's "Happy New Year", while I would appreciate his sentiment, his voice would make me want to jump off the Empire State Building. Just like if my mother tried to get me to eat broccoli.

You are still not getting me. Outside of music, I think he is a great guy. I am simply not fond of his voice. Dylan socially stood up for all the right things. Nobody can take that from him. But I simply have never been into his voice.

RE: First video ever played on MTV......
I've never listened to Dylan for the vocal quality nor ABBA for the lyrics.
