They’re exactly police - it’s Homeland Security and Border Patrol agents. And we know it’s them because both agencies have said they’re the ones doing it.

Huh. I must have been under a rock when that was admitted. Thanks!

Chilling. I hope that the local and state governments prevail in getting these people out of the area. Are the people being snatched read their rights?

I’m not sure, but I’m going to guess ‘no’, since it appears that they aren’t actually being arrested. They’re just being snatched up, held for a few hours, and released. It’s not a law enforcement tactic, it’s a terror tactic - they’re trying to frighten people into not protesting.
But as I said above, it isn’t working - the estimated number of people in the streets has doubled over the past two nights.

I'm given to understand that there are manuals published by the US Military (I think) that explicitly say that it's bad and counterproductive to clamp down on popular protests. The recommended actions are 1) to ignore them in the hope that they fizzle away to nothing and 2) bring them to the table to reach an accommodation (preferred).
But for the current slate of sand paintings in power in the US, knowing this would require that...whaddycallit...reading.

From my understanding this tactic has raised the numbers of protesters in the streets.
Perhaps the cops should read those military manuals.

Or even read a little history of rebellions in general. Eamon de Valera said it more than a century ago: 'Don't worry about it boys - every one of us they snatch brings ten more to our side.'

The last insurrection worked so well, can't wait to see how the next one turns out.
