Are executions making the US look bad?

Are executions making the US look bad?
The only other Western democracy who executes criminals (all of whom are mass murderers) is Japan, usually, just after Christmas on the same day; on the other hand, the United States starts to execute just after the first week of the New Year (sometimes a few days after January 1) but ending almost always before December 15th.

With the war raging in the Ukraine, are executions harming the credibility of the United States as being a leader in moral and humanistic values?

We certainly look askance at the US for continuing to execute people. It’s really a minor factor (compared with their treatment of immigrants, their institutional racism, their evident corruption, their economic imperialism, and so on) in their loss of credibility.

Seems to be that executions couldn't really make us look good. Kindof baked in, isn't it?
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

RE: Are executions making the US look bad?
Probably not because movies glamorized it. If it was done in France or Belgium or Germany then it would seem cold and inhuman, but when it's in the US then people see it as Sean Penn and Susan Sarandon waltzing around the electric chair.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

I admit that my question was somewhat rhetorical, but, if everyone agrees that executing criminals makes the US look bad in the eyes of the World, why do we continue to execute criminals?

Because better than half of us agree with the death penalty, presumably, some of them even as they acknowledge that it's not a great look.

If that's the price of eliminating the possibility of the State executing innocent people, I'll take all the pansification you can dish out.
