Society's abandonment of inner-city poor and its refusal to fix the conditions that create those gang-bangers is a much bigger failure of society -- I mean, the numbers are much bigger and they're being gunned down in the streets too. It seems to me that your sense of empathy is tied to the economic class of the victim.

Gang related homicides vacillate between 10-15% of gun deaths for a given year. Many many many more people die outside of the inner cities by guns than in them. Rural suicides and domestic violence account for the lions share of gun death in the us. Why, it's almost as if pretending the scary brown criminals are killing everyone is killing The Whites™. Gang bangers certainly don't account for as many deaths as health insurance robber barons. That shit isn't even close.
