As a kid I was told the egg represented the boulder in front of the cave zombeh jebus was in. But to be honest that's probably just a quick lie to kill off my curiosity.
To be honest the idea of a shit loads of chocolate blocked any further questioning at the time.

Easter is that magical time of year celebrating when Jesus died on the cross for all humanity, was taken down from the cross and laid in the tomb. Three days later, the tomb opened up and Jesus came out.
Then he saw his shadow and went back in, and we've had 2000 more years of religion.
Christian apologetics is the art of rolling a dog turd in sugar and selling it as a donut.

"An Anglo-Saxon legend tells how the Saxon goddess Eostre found a wounded bird and transformed it into a hare, so that it could survive the Winter. The hare found it could lay eggs, so it decorated these each Spring and left them as offering to the goddess."
OR
"The egg and hare(bunny) were symbols of Ostara representing fertility and new life in the Spring. Since ancient times many cultures have associated eggs with the universe. They've been dyed, decorated and painted by the Romans, Gaul's, Persians and the Chinese. They were used in ancient spring festivals to represent the rebirth of life. Dyed eggs also formed part of the rituals of the Babylonian mystery religions and in Egypt they were hung in temples as symbol of regenerative life."
OR?
I don't know why they don't have this instead of the Eucharist/host/bread/wafer or whatever you want to call the transubstantiation or representation.
