If the Exodus didn't happen, the Jews wouldn't put themselves under the Mosaic law

If the Exodus didn't happen, the Jews wouldn't put themselves under the Mosaic law
From an exchange...

Quote:Did tens of thousands of Israelites conspire to fabricate the history of the Exodus? If those events did not occur, and those recorded miracles were not experienced by tens of thousands of Israelites, why would they subject themselves to such a burdensome legal code and hard life?

The person in question doesn't seems interested in there being or not archeological evidence for the event.

Are there any examples of people in other religions doing something similar? I know he would reject such accounts but it would be nice to point it to him to show him why I reject the Bible account

Haven't slept in a in about 36 hours and didn't have me specs on.

Thought this read if 'if the explosion never happened'........... what explosion ? and who exploded the Jews ? were my initial thoughts. Second ones a bit silly in retrospect, one demographic pretty much holds the monopoly on 'exploding the Jews' at the moment.

If the events in the kerrang did not occur and those recorded miracles were not experienced by tens of thousands of Muslims, why would those nineteen hijackers deliberately fly into the World Trade Centre?
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

If Jesus did happen, how come thousands of Jews didn't believe in the "Christ"?

Not "if" it didn't happen. It did not happen. No "if". It is a myth, nothing more and out of a book of myth,

Well, he may just claim that the miracles of Islam are the work of the devil and his minions who intend to deceive men.

Then counterclaim it.

But why would the Jews subject themselves to such a rigorous law if they knew it was a myth? Smile

Of course, I could just say it was all a mass delusion and call it a day.

You don't even have to invoke a delusion. Challenge him to demonstrate the difference between any of the supposed miracles and Harry Potter magic.
