Just get over it, pretty much covers what one should do about depression. It's a great advice. It's simple and straight to the point. It's the only way I deal with it and it works.

So you're saying that anyone with depression should just get over it and you should know because you've got it.
Well, that's probably not going to work for you forever and to be honest, I don't see that it's working for you right now.

You think you can tell if I'm depressed right now?

Are you claiming to be that much of an expert on the issue? Are you a certified Michael Jordan of psychiatry?

Yes, that is what I'm saying. Getting over it covers a lot of stuff if you really think about it, as well as being connotative of a positive attitude, something definitely helpful as well.

I disagree. It's worked for me so far. I'm going to trust it's going to keep working.

Ok, you do what works best for you then.
If some people on this thread are feeling depressed, do you think you're helping by telling them that what one must do is to just get over it?

I feel depressed as well. The attitude of "getting over it" helps reduce depression significantly, though.

I do think I can help others, yes. I could be far more depressed right now if I wasn't willing to treat my own depression so lightly. Others may be like me, if so, they'll know what I'm saying. Those that aren't, I can't help, though.

If someone can "just get over it", they're not depressed. They're sad.

I don't know how anyone could seriously think a person would choose to remain depressed if there was such a simple solution. You might as well tell an amputee to "just grow another arm".
