The Holy Bible - fact or fiction?
#71
RE: The Holy Bible - fact or fiction?
I think I'm going to need one of those shirts.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

Isn't that similar to the motto of kids who are taught "abstinence only 'education'"?

"Up the butt doesn't count so I'm still a virgin!"

That is what is so dangerous about religious "abstinence only" bullshit. There is more risk in unprotected sex, even anal and oral, in STDS, but they stupidly think it is only about not having unwanted babies. If you exchange body fluids, and oral and anal count, especially without a condom, you most certainly can fuck your life up even without getting pregnant.

The religious right nuts would argue "condoms break". Yea and? They still reduce the risk and can be used both with anal and oral sex. Sex involves more than just sticking your penis in a vagina. And they also stupidly get taught that anal sex is strictly a male gay thing. If it was all bible based and their right wing God was real, then he'd only have himself to blame for making it so gays and even heterosexual men could stick their penis up either a female or male's ass.

Religion is so fucked up in how it teaches body shame and body ignorance. And not just in America, even in Africa both Muslims and Christians in more 3rd world countries have a higher rate of STDS and unwanted pregnancies.

So far the list of achievements from that show includes Pads, Mobile phones, tricorders, replicators (3D printers), and numerous other inventions the show predicted.

Do you accept James T. Kirk, as your Lord and Saviour?

No! The Sisko is my LORD, the true Emissary who will show us the way!

Did you know that one of the reasons he "died" at the end of DS9 was because one of the producers - can't remember which one - couldn't stand Avery Brooks and didn't want him returning in a movie?

Well, so I've heard...

I only know of two predictions that have come true.

In 1976 Paddy Chayefsky wrote the screenplay for the movie Network which accurately predicted the future of TV "News" becoming mere entertainment.  He has been proven right on every network and cable outlet.

In 1920, H. L. Mencken wrote in The Baltimore Evening Sun:

This prediction came true on 1/20/2001 and was superseded by an even bigger moron on 1/20/17.

1979: Margaret Hilda Thatcher becomes Britain's first woman Prime Minister.

Why are we not worshipping the good Doctor?

Excellent question!

Get on your knees and worship me, fools!

Wait, you don't mean ME, do you?

Meh, not really a prediction. You can point to world history, IE Hitler, and say the same thing. It really only addresses our species ability to be gullible and follow stupid politicians. But we have seen those mistakes worldwide throughout human history.

I often say, which I really shouldn't  "The GOP is what Orwell warned about in Animal Farm and 1984". It is metaphor only, not a real prediction. It is a warning of what could happen, but doesn't have to happen. Humans can do stupid things, but that is really all that quote is saying. What prevents those outcomes is an educated society. But it is up to society to keep that up.

The Bible is fake history and absolute pig-shit mythology, including the flood that never happened, the garden with magic trees, and the entire "Jesus" story arc (which is not particularly original, considering that risen saviour-gods were a dime a dozen in the Middle East).

It is so far from the truth that it would have to take a trans-Atlantic flight, a commuter flight, and a 10-hour bus ride to get to where it could even see the truth.
