Grow a pair.
that what scouting is sport. it was a place where boys could develop and become men without having to work out their fragile egos in front of the opposite sex.
We (some of the less bigotted) can look at other cultures 'rights of passage' like the Spartan's method of bring up a child and at a certain age send him out to kill a wolf or a native american vision quest or even something as mudain as a bar-mitsva as a right of passage for a boy to become a young man. Use to be in this country, the basic skill set of the boy scouts was the same sort of ritual.
I worked with many who have had a defining moment where a man leaves the childish things behind and embrace manhood fully. Then there's this generation where soceity has produced the peter pan man child douche bag. the perfect mindless man child. men who do not know how to lead, men who do not know how to be direct. men who do not know how to work/have no work ethic.
I'm not saying scouting is the only way to manhood, but it was a big part of it for a great number of young men and even some of our presidents.
But scouting can still be those things for the boys. Including girls won't change that. There can be character building for both sexes, and it may be even more effective having the opposite sex around so you can learn about them and learn to interact with them -
how to treat women well if you're a guy and how to treat men well if you're a woman. Including girls won't take away from male character building. It will simply add another very important element to it, and give them the opportunity to put that into practice directly.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

Right or wrong, it was not accepted by the types of people who saw scouting as a right of passage or a transitional institution that would help see boys become young men.
If they want more number go back to what work for 150 years prior.
If people left the scouts because the leadership allowed gay scout masters, then good. Those sorts of bigoted fucks aren't the kinds of people I'd want teaching my children anything.
And if the kids didn't want a gay scout master?

Well said. I've heard Drich (and some others I've talked to about this) keep using phrases like "being a man" or "manhood" and imply that having girls there will somehow warp or defect it. ...Isn't learning how to act around women and how to treat them as equals and appreciate their skills and values part of "being a man"?

...Then they can leave the scouts. Which according to you, they did. Problem solved.

There were no external forces or organizations that made the scouts do this.
I love it when we get to use conservative talking points on conservatives. Points out the hypocrisy of their position. "Yes I support the free market...except when it goes against MY DEEPLY HELD BELIEFS!!!"
So please explain how a 'free market' have anything to do with a non-profit traditionally Christian organization???

Plus they are not even being forced, each pack gets to decide whether they want to remain an all-boy pack, or admit girl dens, or create a new all-girl pack.
Yabbut then other people would be making choices that went against their deeply held beliefs![/sarcasm]

glob..
Stupid people should be made/FORCED to understand there are always multiple perspectives. And while no one is compelling the BSA to accept girls, the BSA is indeed FORCING all of it's affiliates to accept this new rule. meaning no one is able to opt out.. Do you now understand moron?
And that is why they're letting girls to the boys scouts. Do you understand now?

like the yellow snow badge?? What the problem is?

yes like sell and eat cookies while we ran obstical courses the arm used. What the problem is?

Quote:/sarcasm. Yes SOME troops like the lucky duck's in Aroura's troop got to do some cool stuff and some boy scouts had boring leaders but everyone knows the majority was not that way I had four different leaders and not one thought it necessary to teach us how to even build a fire or let us swim in anything other than a chlorinated pool.
it is all leader based. all anyone need do is stay with in the charter and murder was allowed. my sister troop raise money to goto seaworld place in the keys where they swam with the dolphns and some candy factory. again all within the charter. we went to camp 'joy.' over and over and over again.
Quote:We GET to sell cookies? Like it's an honor to sell those things? Cookie sales were the most stressful time of the year. You were pushed to sell them with the threat that you wouldn't get to do anything fun if you didn't sell a lot. But hey don't go door to door because of bad people yo. If you didn't have a parent that could rock the selling game at work you got to sell cookies in the freaking cold (because for some stupid reason they thought February was a great time to put little girls outside selling shit) in front of Walmart or Blockbuster (Auto Zone if your troop got lucky) Don't get me started on the merit badges. Let me say this again; I got actual badges for painting nails and learning to braid. Literally nothing I learned in girl scouts, mind you I was in the system from 5 to 17 with only one year break because my mom was deployed, would ever be helpful on transcripts. The only thing that was helpful for college was the volunteer work at the half way houses and soup kitchens.
Calling B/S on this one.
I would wheel the wagon around to help her deliver the cookies (in them days you had to order on a sheet with pics and then like 6 weeks later they'd send out the cookies. the great thing about that? we'd forget where 1/2 the cookies went, so ate what we could not place. The same thing when we went door to door selling candels and knives for the school. usally by the end of the program we had a ton of stuff we could not place. and kept it! so don't tell me my sisters and I were the only one eating free cookies

So when a private organization's Board of Directors votes unanimously to change a policy you interpret that as being "forced?"
because it's members were not asked
That's what a Board of Directors is for, you dumb fuck. Don't you know anything?

Lol this is such a non issue. I bet those boys are excited to have some girls around. Drich is just mad because there was no mixed scouts in his time 😂
